Thanks.
Done everything in the correct order. After the patch i flashed the original bios and i was able to access the setup without password. Then i shut the machine off. I connected an empty ssd and when immediately the bios password came back...
Any ideas? I will do it again one more time.Comment

Hello.
I did the patching, put it on the laptop, turned it on, went through the steps. so far everything is fine.
I restored the original bios. and now it doesn't do anything except for one led blink.
If I unsolder the bios chip, it still does the same thing.
Laptop is T470
Help please!

Hi.
I have a E490 Device. The DXE Driver shows me 458478389 as Hardware-ID.
Can anyone generate the Key for me?
ThanksComment

If you use the AUTO-PATCHER offered here, you don't need a hardware ID.
This point is simply skipped with enter.
STEP 5: Press enter when it shows Hardware IDComment

Thank you for responce.
Before I found this forum, I bought a so-called "password unlock chip" and soldered it to the board.
Now the notebook tells me something about wrong UEFI variables, shows me the hardware ID and expects a key.
I also don't know what happens if I just press Enter. I don't want the whole thing to become worthless.

Hello, you've caught quite a bit of fraud, the chip is worthless. After patching, you have to reinstall the original BIOS of the notebook. (which you don't have) I would read the original BIOS chip three times and compare the contents to see if everything matches. Patch the original BIOS with the autopatcher and then restore the original BIOS. Forget about the chewed chip.Comment

When Supervisor Password is DISABLED and you just want to De-Activate Computrace, you must first set the Supervisor Password and then (read)-patch-program the patched BIOS file and perform the unlock procedure which will reset the known Supervisor Password and de-activate Absolute Computrace. To finish just program the Original BIOS.Comment

by jbonavitaHi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
Some issues
A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized
Things I tried
1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...-

by zeniusHello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.
Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...-

by WahazHello,
I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....-

by BloodhoundjeHi everyone,
I have been doing hardware repair as a hobby for some years now and recently decided to learn about repairing laptops as a fun challenge.
I managed to get my hands on a "HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2523nd" notebook that only shows a white power LED and doesnt respond to anything.
After initial testing I concluded the bios seems to be corrupted since all voltages are normal and there are no shorts. HP has a feature for a bios restore from USB with winkey+B for this model. This did not work.
I have desoldered the bios chip (GigaDevice...-
