It's a relatively easy job, as long as you use a programmer with SOP8 clip (no soldering required). With some experience it can be done in 30 minutes or less.
In my opinion the most important step is having a backup of original BIOS (read chip and save file, do this 3 times and compare all 3 files to make sure they all match), before trying any patching of the bios.
we got another worker brought thinkpad t14s laptop with broken screen, when i replaced the lcd panel and turned on, it had bios password. this time worker doesnt remember the password. i took a look inside and saw a winbond chip (i m guessing this is bios chip?) also it still has lenovo 3rd tier (best warranty on it still) is it possible to use sop8 and the tools to reset the bios on T14s or do you think lenovo warranty will replace the board under warranty?

Hi, can anyone please help with this P52 dump. The patcher said "Done" but when I write this dump, the P52 is just showing black screen and plays a melody for about 3-4 seconds.
I am attaching both the original dump and the patched dump that gives black screen and a melody.
              Thanks in advance!

Read the instructions (post #1), you have to press F1 upon powering up the laptop, once it asks for password use “1234” ENTER, then follow screen instructions.
If your ThinkPad is already unlocked, you just have to program original BIOS.

                              Hello,
I have t480s and have successfully dumped and patched it (I guess as no errors during the process and have a xxx_PATCHED.bin file)
Only one question regarding the "STEP 8: Restore original BIOS"? what do you mean by restore? should I flash the BIOS (same version I suppose) from Lenovo website? or should I restore it from dump?

                              Many thanks in advance!

Flash the original BIOS dump with the programmer. Turn on the laptop, enter the BIOS, reset it to the factory settings. Check the settings for date, time ..

You need to program the jarred BIOS dump using the programmer.
The file extension does not matter - it does not matter that the volume matches 100 percent. You can compare the original dump and the modified dump using HxD

Hello, i am new here. This is a great support board, thanks to all participating.
                                          I have general question.
                                          How does it work?
I bought ch341a usb eeprom reader.
Do i have to make a backup of my bricked or locked bios with ASprogrammer tool and post it here to get new unlocked bios, or can i use an already unlocked one from one of the postings here?
my laptop is a yoga x1 2nd gen.
                                          thank you in advance.
                                          regards

                                            ASUS TP500LA BIOS request/repair/merge?
                                            by jbonavita
Hi, my laptop wont boot at all
With original bios no POST, only LED lights
With alternative BIOS from model TP500LN (flashed via programmer) the notebook works again
                                            Some issues
                                            A- with bios from 500LN, it won't update from bios of model 500LA (from 500LN v203 to 500LA v300)
B- If updated from 500LN version 203 to 300, the battery stops being recognized

                                            Things I tried

1- Update / clear ME: Took the non working bios, made a backup, and did this: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...theory/trouble...

Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

                                            Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....

                                            Hi everyone,

I have been doing hardware repair as a hobby for some years now and recently decided to learn about repairing laptops as a fun challenge.

I managed to get my hands on a "HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec2523nd" notebook that only shows a white power LED and doesnt respond to anything.

After initial testing I concluded the bios seems to be corrupted since all voltages are normal and there are no shorts. HP has a feature for a bios restore from USB with winkey+B for this model. This did not work.

I have desoldered the bios chip (GigaDevice...
