But there are people who know how to patch bios dump and when it turns on laptop the EC patches With "1234".

t480 has no ec! password stored in mec chip! unlock possible by svod3 or by patching the bios (dxe patch) when you read the forum you find a working dxe patch, and info how to patch the bin, when you not have succes you can buy a patch online on other forums or ebay or unlock websites

i have a t480s (20L6) and none of what I read above makes sense...
"password in EC" means what?
somebody else says "t480 has no EC" - so who's right?
svod3 = ?
dxe patch = ?
lenovo auto patcher = how does THAT run when laptop won't even get to BIOS screen? bios password = doesn't go very far...

man if you're going to answer the question, put in some actual details. This stuff just causes more questions. Just hints.

I'm finding most of this stuff a mystery. I have a Lenovo T480s 20L6, SN: PF-171NMK, and I'd like to figure out what's needed to bypass the admin password. I have what I think is a dump of the 25Q128JV.. Again, I don't know the steps to get this laptop running again...

I am trying to unlock password for T480s. I used the tool mentioned in this fourm. Worked but now I am getting an error after putting original bios back. following is the error:

0183: bad crc security settings in EFI variable

Press F1 to enter setup


when press F1 iit never goes to set up. Just displays the message entering.

Please help.

You should contact Computrae, ask for delete Your computer from their list. They will contact the last (known) user. I did that once upon the time: friendly, correct and without costs.
