DMI data extraction from BIOS dump.

    DMI data extraction from BIOS dump.

    Would it be possible to extract the DMI data from a BIOS dump on Windows?

    It can be done on Linux using the dmidecode application.

    I need to get the HP/Compaq serial number etc from the BIOS dump to be able to put it in the newly flashed system.

    Clarify what you mean, the OEM-SLP keys are readily available at places like mydigitallife etc.
    Or are you talking about the SLIC itself?

      No, not the SLIC. I need to get the HP Model number, serial number, PCID, OS Type variables from the BIOS dump.

      I know how to get it from a working system, but not from a saved dump.

        Yea it should be possible, look in the SMBIOS using for example mmtool if it's an AMI based BIOS

          Yes that's exactly what I need. Is there a tool for Insyde BIOSes but?

            There are hardly any tools for Insyde unfortunately. However, the relevant serial codes can be found on the back of the computer, under the battery compartment. The data can then be written using the HPBQ138.EXE tool ran from a DOS bootable USB drive.
