Re: e6400 bios dump
Thank you hbissou.I tried flashing that. bios revision changed. But computrace is still there. Does anyone know if that is removable by reflashing any of the chips?
@ wallyoz7 the bios you provided is not a dump from computer. The dump from the bios update does not include files for serial and the little details from the computer...

Re: e6400 bios dump
From what I know is that computrace is located within the Operating System and the bios chip together. If both bios chip and O.S. are erased and reprogrammed , then computrace will be erased for good. The software is called Remote Procedure Call (rpcnet.exe) by computrace also C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost -k rpcss

Re: e6400 bios dump
Hi,
this subject is a bit old,
But I think It could help some people to share my experience.
I bought a dell e6400 bios locked from ebay,
the administrative password was set in the bios, so I could not make any changes in the bios settings..
But the notebook was still able to boot from a usb key.
I first try the site http://bios-pw.org/
but the unlock password computed didnt work with my bios revision.
So I followed the procedure I found in this page:
http://honestpchelp.com/2015/downgra...00d630-series/
I first boot from a HirenCD USB key, (make with yumi multiboot)
then I forced a bios downgrade like this:
E6400A10.EXE /forceit
and now with the old bios revision,
the password computed on http://bios-pw.org/ works...
so you can remove the administrative password...
without needing to reflash the bios chip...
I hope it will help someone...
(and sorry for my bad english)
