• Re: Compaq cq71 power or mosfet problem ?

Well..
this morning felt lucky.

I unsoldered the bios chip, flash it,
resolder it, than.... laptop starts...

It looks like electric problem, but it was bios corruption..

So this thread is closed...

(anyway I still have strange reading on this mosfet...but probably cause of a capacitor as you said...)

thank you for your help.

• Re: Compaq cq71 power or mosfet problem ?

Well how can I have a good reading so ?

Does a long press to power button will discharge capacitors?

For me it look like there is a kind of shortcut on PU8
(page 33 of schematics)
maybe between pin 8 & 10...

dont know, I will try another 4468 today, just to see...

• Compaq cq71 power or mosfet problem ?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to repair a compaq cq71 (same motherboard than cq61) who does not power up.

I test all the mosfet, and found one that seems dead (not visually), but testing it with diode test and a mutimeter, give a reading of 20 instead of between 100 and 500 which is a good reading...

this mosfet is PQ26 on motherboard, it is a 4468 on my motherboard..

I saw that other people as problem in the same area of the motherboard, like in this post:

• Toshiba l775 cpu temperature reading problems

Hi everybody,

I have a problem with a toshiba l775 motherboard (intel cpu version),
that leave me in a state of perplexity..
maybe someone can help me..

I buy this second hand laptop on ebay,
the seller told it has a overheating problem,
probably due to the cpu fan..

I change, the thermal paste, buy a new fan..
And the problem continues...

In fact the cpu temperature reading are erratics, they jump like 30°C up or down.. instable readings.. and this even when there is no cpu load...
So after...

Re: e6400 bios dump

Hi,

this subject is a bit old,
But I think It could help some people to share my experience.

I bought a dell e6400 bios locked from ebay,

the administrative password was set in the bios, so I could not make any changes in the bios settings..
But the notebook was still able to boot from a usb key.

I first try the site http://bios-pw.org/
but the unlock password computed didnt work with my bios revision.

So I followed the procedure I found in this page:...
