Thinkpad P14s Gen 4, BIOS Supervisor Password

I have a laptop that was purchased second-hand, and I am able to boot Windows on and extract the BIOS dump (ONLY the BIOS region, I was unable to dump anything else due to an FCERR I received trying to dump the other regions) and use normally. However, because the BIOS is locked with a supervisor password, I am unable to use anything else except for Windows, and it has also disabled some hardware features of the laptop itself, such as the fingerprinting module, etc. that I really do wish to use.

I have been digging around for nearly 2 weeks trying to find any mention of the same model and generation, but received mixed results and nothing that has verifiably worked. So, I am posting on this forum in hopes of getting some help from people much more experienced than I am!

    Device: Thinkpad P14s Gen 4
    Device S/N: PF4RTEFN
    Motherboard S/N: L1HF419003T

Thank you in advance for your help! Please reach out to me if you need any further information/clarification. For some reason I'm just not able to upload the bios dump file due to an extension error... so I used .txt instead. I think the binary contents are intact.

Probably an nm-e972 card with a Mec1724 chip so reading the ec, no other possible solution.
    need a compatible EC programmer

Fair enough, thank you for your guidance. I will go ahead and read up on some of the Badcap guides to see what can be done, and update progress here if I ever make any.

Do you know of any particular EC programmer that can work with MEC1724? Even on the hardware support list of the SVOD 4, it doesn't explicitly mention supporting the MEC17xx series... Don't see it on the Vertyanov support list, either.

Request HP Proliant Microserver Gen 8 (J06) BIOS dump to restore system firmware
          by Ahari
          Hi all,

This is my first post here (I am very new to forums!) and I hope someone can help. I am looking for a full dump of the BIOS of a HP Proliant Microserver Gen 8 so that I can get this mini server running again. (BIOS version J06 2019-04-04, chip 25Q064A). I think my board was partially bricked after a failed BIOS update.

I got it second hand in this state and all the normal attempts at bios restoration have not worked. I have even desoldered the chip and tried to load the actual BIOS from HP, but it is missing some parts needed to boot the system.

          I...

I need a BIOS dump for the Samsung S49CG934SU monitor
          by Habble7
The Samsung S49CG934SU monitor does not power on - no LED indicator activity and no response to power button. However, when 21V power is connected, it immediately draws 0.8A of current with no display output. The motherboard processor gets warm, and there is continuous reading activity from the W25Q128BV BIOS chip.

          Suspected Cause:
I suspect the BIOS may have been corrupted during a power interruption while updating the firmware. The official website provides firmware updates, but they can only be installed via USB flash drive.

          Troubleshooting Attempts:

Fixed: Lenovo P14s Gen 1 (type 20Y1, 20Y2) Laptop (ThinkPad) bricked by a withdrawn BIOS update (r1buj82w)
          by akwky
          Hi!
Went dumpster-diving and found a bricked Lenovo P14S in trash, few weeks earlier. Symptoms - no screen, no POST, no beep, just keyboard LEDs flashing on powerup. Mute button+LED was responding though, and the display self-test was still working (via the key combo Ctrl+Fn+Power held for some seconds, see the Service manual).

Incidentally, Windows 11 have recently started auto-flashing computer BIOS in our region. Even more suspiciously, Lenovo has released a BIOS update just few days before the PC was trashed. About a week later, the BIOS update image has been oficially marked...

Lenovo ThinkPad L15 Gen 1 i7 (20U4) Bios and EC dump needed
          by Joluvillas
Hi all! I was reading on tutorials how to flash a bios to remove password from a bios, and I ended up reading the EC chip instead of the main bios chip, it only gave me a .bin file of 1,024kb, I learned later that that is the EC chip not the main bios chip (I should have read the tutorials here instead before attempting anything, my bad), I went to flash the original backup, the 1,024kb size file into the same chip and laptop is not powering up anymore. I may have screwed the chip or even the motherboard (Hopefully not), I am trying to see if there is a fix before I discard it. I had a couple...
