Short circuit on soldered RAM on PC Asus X751L

    Hello,

The motherboard of my Asus X751L PC (reference X751LD rev 2.3) is HS because when I turn on the PC all the voltages are good but 3 of the 8 RAM chips are vey hot and the PC does not start.
I see that there is a short circuit on the RAM power supply (1.8V).

Do you think if I remove all the RAM chips soldered to the motherboard and add an external RAM stick to the DIMM socket it might work?

    Thanks

Re: Short circuit on soldered RAM on PC Asus X751L

I unsoldered the 8 memory components and inserted a RAM module into the SO-DIMM socket.
There is no longer the short-circuit, all the voltages are correct but the PC does not start correctly (black screen, consumption 0.23A).

u must disable onboard ram or repair it. and rams voltage is 1.35V or 1.2V

Indeed the voltage of a RAM is 1.4V and not 1.8V as I indicated in a previous message.
On the other hand, how to disable the onboard RAM on this mainboard ?

Thank you rediii but it seems to be not the same board.
I found information for board X751LD rev 2.0 (not 2.3) and i will try.

                    Thank you mon2.
I have moved R2145 to R2144 (for PCB_ID0 signal) and R2153 to R2146 (for PCB_ID1 signal) to disable onboard RAM but unfortunately it does not change nothing.

Re: Short circuit on soldered RAM on PC Asus X751L

                      Hello.
After unsoldering the onboard RAM and disabe it, the computer still won't boot.
All the voltages are good, one of the LEDs lights up permanently before even pressing the power on button.
Consumption is constant at 0.23 A. If I press the power ON button for 10 seconds, consumption goes back to 0 very briefly.
With my little thermal camera I observe that the 0.9V and 1.7V coil are a little hotter than the others components.

I'm a little out of ideas.

Could it be a bios problem ?

Asus Geforce Cerberus GTX1050TI-O4G-DIS short circuit in the FBVDDQ rail
                          by nagkiller
                          Hello everyone!

This grafic card came for repair, but when I connected it to the motherboard, the board would not start (short circuit in the 12V rail).

After removing some PLs to isolate the short in the 12V rail, I got to PML1/PML2, according to the BoardView reference.

Even injecting a voltage of 1V0 and a current of 3A in the FBVDDQ rail, for example, the voltage drops to 0V20 and none of the components heat up.

The attached boardview file is very similar to this grafic card, which I am basing the repair on.

                          I would like some...

Help me find the short circuit on this WORKING Nvidia GTX1650
                          by aaronkatrini
                          Hi all,

Recently picked up this GTX1650 at a local flea market for a low price and wanted to use it on my secondary PC. I first tested the card and saw the fan spin for a split second and then nothing. Immediately I thought of a short circuit. Disassembled and found a shorted SMD capacitor, injected voltage into it (1V/4A) and two Mosfets got hot immediately (QN3103 & QN3107). Desoldered these Mosfets and the card turned back to life.

Bought replacements from Aliexpress and replaced them afterwards. Tried the card but still the saw the fan spin for a split second...

9th Gen Dell Optiplex Micro PC motherboard repair: Short Circuit?
                          by Geeker007
Hi All, I have a 9th Gen Dell Optiplex micro PC motherboard which doesn't power on. When I connect the motherboard with power adapter, it goes into safe mode and turns off. So from info I have gathered online, it looks like there is a short circuit on the motherboard. So can you guys help me with figuring out the issue?

I am new to electronics repair, so my queries could be naive but I am ready to learn.

So I have a multimeter and a solder with me. But I can try to get a variable voltage power supply with a thermal camera as well. From what I seen online, best way is...

Nintendo Switch lite charging chip heats up and does not short circuit
                          by fab13
                          Hello everyone

Small technical problem on a Nintendo Switch lite
Here's what I noticed: the USB port has been damaged internally, with a short circuit on the power supply line to the small fuse.

After replacing the USB connector, the short circuit went away and I can't see any other short circuit in the whole motherboard.

When I charge the console, it seems to be charging: I get 15 volts and an amperage of 0.450 A.

Then, after a while, the amperage increases to 1.1 A and the BQ24193 charging chip starts to heat up, as evidenced...

                          Short Circuit tester
                          by Tarot Superstars
                          Hello.
I have seen a short circuit tester made with 3 * 9V batteries, a voltage limiter component and a resistor connected to the probes of a multimeter.
The theory is that the meter becomes sensitive enough to read very low resistances and the lowest resistance to ground on a circuit is likely to be a short circuit in that area.
