MacBook Pro 16" A2141 charge issue

Hello, received a logic board and repaired the USB C Chips (2x CD3217 B12 Chips) and voila board got twenty volts and turns on with it connected to the battery, however the board is not charging or even recognizing it is connected to a power source, it does work with the USB C dongles and notices the ethernet USB c dongle we connected and lucky for us the Battery had 90% health and it is a good battery because we charged it from another A2141 board. Now this is what I see when connected to the power source

    Not connected to battery
    20V
    .08 Amps

    when connected to a battery
    20V
    0.00 Amps

A little guidance will def help me repair this issue and know how to fix more common issues like this.

    Hi.

    Post the voltage readings for:

    I2C_PWR_SDA
    I2C_PWR_SCL

Killed 8 hours a few weeks ago to locate that the fault of a similar case was the TVS diode on the I2C lines (U6950). After removing this part, the battery was able to charge up fine. Arrow carries these parts but check the voltage on the lines first.

        Following up

U6950 only gets 1.79volts on top pins 1 and 2 and 0 on 3 (ground) . I am assuming this is a bad diode?

          I2C_PWR_SDA . 1.79V
          I2C_PWR_SCL 1.79V

          On both lines.

            Removed, ISL9240 seems fine.

Re: MacBook Pro 16" A2141 charge issue

Your I2C_PWR_xxx lines are good - see attached. These open-drain lines are pulled to 1v8 so no issue here.

Yes, for sure if the ISL9240 is damaged then this is of concern. Aliexpress has these. Would have thought that Louis carries them by now but do not see them on his website.

I am pretty sure we have them here so if you are in immediate need, can work out a fair price. We have a negotiated deal with Fedex @ $ 15 USD (commercial address) or $20 USD (residential address) = 2 day delivery to you. Send me a PM if in need of the ISL9240. Recently purchased a batch of these and I think they are now in the building.

I ordered IS9240 from Mobile Sentrix they have them in stock now. Fairly cheap too. But I removed the idea the ISL9240 could be the culprit and it looks fine actually. Unless it is bad which it does hold the charge portion for the board which I am not surprised if it is.

I would not trust the old ISL9240. I had ask Mobile to carry this device - guessing their search engine is not working so well to locate the device.

Can you post the link to the Mobilesentrix for the ISL9240 - unable to find it, so far.

OMG - Mobile Sentrix has different inventory for the USA website vs. the Canadian website. Not right. Will ask them...

Crazy that the USA website has the part.

Ok so all checks out then and a bad ISL 9240 i Guess. I ordered 2 of them from Mobile Sentrix since these parts are very delicate.

Good idea. Jealous that the USA website stocks more of the goodies than our local branch. Need a layered motherboard tester for the Iphone X to fix the camera / face ID / torch functions but they have the very old model in stock in Canada. Guess will buy it offshore from Qianli.

Yeah. I already am assuming you have a business account with them since you can order from there. They wont let regular buyers register unless you have a legit business license like us. But yeah man ordered 2 and a few more goodies. We have so many computers in stock its not even funny...I am swamped to my neck.
