    Macbook pro A1706 820-00923-A BKLT_EN_R missing

    Hi all,

    I need some help.
    I received Macbook pro A1706 820-00923-A from customer that was water damage.
    After open it there was a liquid damage around lcd connector. I clean it and measure but there is no short.
    Tried to turn it on but got blank display but the fan spin and the keyboard backlight is on so i think it only has problem with backlight or display.
    So later i measure J8500 port:
    PPVOUT_S0_LCDBKLT = 0v
    PP3V3_S0SW_LCD = 3,2v
    PP5V_S0SW_LCD = 5v

    So i measure R8442 near Backlight ic and found out there is no Voltage on BKLT_EN_R.
    The BKLT_EN_R goes straight to CPU. does it means that CPU is fail or am i missing something.

    So i was looking for the source as you can see in the picture that
    LCDBKLT_EN_L is 12.9V
    PPVIN_S0SW_LCDBKLT_R is 13V
    but i get 0V on PPVIN_S0SW_BKLT

    so does it mean that the main problem is Q8400 mosfet?

    Really appreciate for the help.

    Take a picture of the LCD connector on the logic board.

        It doesn't look like the connector itself is liquid damaged so that's a good sign.
        I think you have image but just no backlight. Measure resistance to ground on PPVIN_S0SW_BKLT, with sceen connected then screen disconnected.

            You can shine a bright torch through the apple logo. If backlight is problem you should see a portion of your image on the screen.
            You will then know if it is no-backlight with image or no backlight with no image. Then you know where to troubleshoot further.

              Thanks for the reply.
              I already tried with torch but there’s no image at all so i think it is no image and no backlight.
              Any suggestion for the next step i should do?

                Hi @Kingskie I have the same board with a similar issue. Did you ever make any headway with this board please ? Not sure if these are Retina screens but they are dark and it’s very hard to see if you have image but no BKLT by shining a torch through the Apple logo

                  the torch through the apple logo will not work on this model, the apple logo is not semi transparent on any with the silver coloured logo, only those with the white logo.

                    jump r8590 ,r8591,r8592
                    check if you get PP3V3_S0SW_LCD,PP5V_S0SW_LCD

                        What is the voltage to ground of ppbus_g3h ?

                        You can measure at fuse F7000.

                            Hi guys i am new to macbook repairs (i mostly do microsoldering on iphones and android devices. I need your assistance with macbook a1706 (touchbar edition) that came in without touchpad and keyboard functionality. External keyboard and mouse does work but the keyboard and touchpad on the macbook does not work. I changed the touchpad flex, also replaced the touchpad but the issue persisted. I then measured voltage on the board and found that PIN 44-50 of the touchpad connector (J4501) got 11.2V instead of 12.6V. Those pins required 12.6v and they get their 12.6v from PPVIN_S4-TPAD_FUSE . I measure...

                            Hello. I would need some advice please.

                            My son's MBP suddenly stopped working and is now only getting the green-then-orange light on Magsafe and no fan spin.
                            He brought the MBP into the house (22 deg C) from a very cold conservatory (-3 deg C) and turned it on straight away. The Mac suddenly died a few minutes later.

                            I examined the logic board and couldn't find any signs of water damage, corrosion, blown up components etc. Nothing was ever spilt on it, and the logic board looks immaculate.

                            I have already replaced the logic board with another...

                            Hi., today working on a Apple MacBook Macbook Pro A1706 (Board part # 820-00239-A) not turning ON with battery. The notebook turns on 100% fine with USB-C Power adapter (NO BATTERY INSTALLED), boots up well & all seems to be perfect. I connect J6950 to the main battery terminal & it's fine, boots up well but does not work with battery as till now the MB did not detect the battery & no battery icon shows up. As soon as I connect the BDM battery flex cable to J6951, the ampmeter display goes on & off & takes only 5v & this is in a loop (display comes & goes after detecting...

                            HI all, I am working on Apple MacBook A1398 logic board # 820-00138-A. The problem is that it does not turn on & no fan spin. Board is very clean & no sign of liquid spill. Upon checking the initial troubleshooting power rails, I found that its missing 5V (Absolute 0V on the Coil L7720, no pulsing at all, it's just 0V). 3.3V is PERFECT & across all points on the logic board. Checked the IC U7501 pin 4, this pin should have the ENABLE volts to turn on the 5v rail, & P5VS4_EN is missing. This signal generated from U8170 pin 4. PM_SLP_S5_L is also not present & ALL_SYS_PWRGD is...

                            Dear community,
                            this is my very first post, I am quite new to macbook repairs, and I am excited:-)

                            I have a 2011 MacBook Air 13' that does not power on. No fan spin, nothing.

                            Here are the specs:

                            MacBook Air Mid-2011
                            CPU: 1.7 GHz Core i5 (I5-2557M)
                            Model: A1369 (EMC 2469)
                            RAM: 4 GB
                            VRAM: 384 MB

                            The first question:
                            Unfortunately, it came with a 'fake' power adapter which seems not to talk to the computer. Sometimes it does show green light immediately after connecting it to the board,...
