Toshiba Laptop Boot Error
Model: c655d-S5200
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional
1. This laptop was working fine and started to slow down. The next day the Windows and log on screens were extremely slow. I thought this may be the beginning of a virus.
2. I booted the computer and attempted to log on and start a full virus scan. Then, I received an Error: Check cable connection
Error: PXE-MOF: Exiting Intel PXE-ROM.
3. Windows 7 will not boot-up and there is no prompt for log on. The PXE-ROM error intercedes and continuously repeat itself with the next key stroke.
4. Attempted Fixes:
a. F8 - key works but options return the same PE error.
b. F12 – restore/repair options fails
c. 0 - Hidden System restore option fails.
d. CD Boot from disk fails.
e. USB – options don't work, cannot access files and no prompt.
5. I tried using an Image disk ISO file. However, the PME-MOF error repeats itself. When I click on the Windows 7 (CD) the repair and restore options starts but goes searching (just spinning). No repair or restore option works.
6. Last, I removed the Toshiba HDD and connected a working HDD with Windows Vista via USB. Windows starts but it is interrupted bu the PME-MOF error. This PME:MOF: error just repeats itself (pressing any key to continue) just as my previous attempted fixes.
7. Looking for advice and what might be causing this problem.
