MSI u135 DX / MS-N0141 works on battery, shutsdown on adapter

I'm working on the above laptop motherboard, it's working fine on battery and powers off (including LEDs) when adapter is plugged in.

Additional Information:

Model: MSI U135 DX
Motherboard: MS-NO141

I'm looking for schematic diagram, could you please post it if you have one?

Shorted mosfets or regulators in the power jack area.

if battery and charger is on, what are the LEDs status?
if power and sleep LED is on, see thread below

1. battery and charger is on - power off or no display. Charging and power led is on
2. Battery on - boots normally wihout problem
3. Battery on, then plug adapter after a few minute - power off or no display, charging and power led is on
4. Charger on - no reaction, but power and charging led is on

Note: Power button is responding.

I'll try to check the the voltage regulators that supply memory and cpu if it is latched when charger is inserted. Life could have been easier if schematic for this motherboard is available.

mosfets, and caps are fine. no short. Even reflowed and replaced charger IC. I was hoping for a quick fix on this one that's why I replaced the chip. But still, problem persists - mobo works on battery, turns off when charger is inserted.

I will take a look at it again, probably there were some time delays when selecting power source from battery to charger.

try putting 330uf 2.5v tantalum on vacant pads near proadlizer...
i think its the same issue with toshiba

Thanks francis but no NEC/Tokin cap in this laptop.

i think the issue is in the charger circuit.

Just got the schematic for this model, i'll take a look again when i arrive at the ofc.

never had the chance to sit on this motherboard, the customer requested to pull out the unit.

hi im from philippines also. i have the same problem with the same model. charger is fine as i tested it using a voltmeter.looks like the issue is on the motherboard. i badly needed the schematic diagram for this model.

Re: MSI wind u135 DX lite / MS-N0141.. display problem.. goes on and off if touching or flipping the cover/display. and recently appeared white lines at the right side border of the display.

Olalskie, you should probably start a new thread for this, as it's a totally different fault. However, I would guess the problem is with your LCD cable
