I just got this laptop from a client and this is the problem, the laptop won't power on with battery connected, but when u take off the battery and plug the adapter it comes on alright, I tried putting the battery after using the adapter to power but it shows no sign of battery, I have checked for any shorted circuit in the battery area but can't seem to find any, I need urgent help.

Remove cmos battery and wait a acouple of seconds then put it back again. If it is about protection circuit error, it might remove the error. Also check for a fuse around battery connection. -

Almost every laptop has a charging circuit of some sort, that does a few things:- Manages switching between AC adapter and battery power
- Manages battery charging and generates power rail to charge battery
There are 2 different designs to handle switching between AC adapter and battery power and feeding the system:- Hybrid power boost (HPB) and traditional circuits without power boost (see Warning in HPB section)

Mark and model: ASUS X571
Symptoms: not turning on. There is only the LED battery indicator working. The owner of the laptop told me this problem arrived one week after having changed the battery. He then managed to power on the laptop only once, and then it never powered on again.
Tests already made:
- Battery is charging when laptop is plugged in. The LED battery indicator turns white after a couple of hours of charge, indicating that battery is fully charged. However, laptop won't turn on anyway, with or without AC plug.

Not sure where to post this but I have an RS-4i sequential stimulator that runs off rechargeable batteries and also has a VL2330 coin cell battery that retains the memory. If that battery doesn't hold charge or connection is bad then the unit will power on and say to recharge. Once it is charged it indicates it is charged but when you turn unit on it powers off saying to charge batteries. I replaced that coin cell battery and now it won't even indicate batteries need to be charged. I have tested the battery pack and it is fully charged at 6V but the coin cell only shows 2.97V which is a brand... -

I received such Laptop as junk. Opening it I saw a lot of whitish water residue , but no corrosion really ( few coils have small brown rust marks, no green copper ).
I cleaned all thoroughly and interestingly , its the Battery BMS board that has the real corrosion spots.. under the protective clear Goo !!
I want to try and power up the laptop
Battery is swollen. But I don't want to buy a new battery right now , of course .

I bought a Vostro 3400 motherboard (LA-K033P) to upgrade over my damaged Inspiron 5593 (LA-J091P) board. Everything else is ok except for the battery. This battery I am using now is already a replacement one since I disposed of the bloated original one. Back in the Inspiron 5593 motherboard, the battery charges fine and is identified just fine. However, with the upgraded motherboard, suddenly the replacement battery is labeled as "Not a dell battery". When I borrow a similar battery from my colleague (which did not have replacements yet), it is identified and charges just fine.
