Asus a9t charge battery but wont power up

Hi there,

I have this lap top and as I said it charge battery (turn on the lamp and on battery conector there is 3.3v and 4.5v if I remember good) but when I press power button nothing happens. I found that on cpu supply coil is 0v. 5v and 3.3v are present.

If someone have similar experiences please help me. Also I can't find schematics for it.

You'll drive yourself batty testing that. My best advice would be to outright replace it if you suspect that as the problem. Usually these are about $6. In your case, it certainly could be the culprit.

I suspect on that chip. Only problem is I must order it from china and it cost about 40 - 50$ when it comes to me, so if it is not to that chip I am in loss and still have fault motherboard

yes I know that, BUT I can't make payment. Pay Pal does not accept cards from my country so I can't order it. Chips that I order are even cheaper than on ebay, but shipping is very expensive.

Asus motherboards have no silkscreen. It's crazy if you do not have boardview.

I found max1987 on some old board and replaced it on asus board. It fixed problem, and it works now.
after that I measured voltage when it is powered off on adapter and it again had 0v. It seems that it got voltage only when it is powered and I was lucky to fix it straith
