I have reballed countless D630s/620s. That epoxy stuff is nonsense. All you have to do is preheat the board and remove it with tweezers or whatever you can.

got the pads in... what the buddy didn't tell me was that they were part of an NOS d620/d630 nvidia heatsink that he happened to have... not a used pull, brand new (as in no die marks on any of the pads).

when I pulled off the old heatsink, there was a mat of dust covering about 30% of the inlet of the heatsink...

so far my temps have been not too bad... the gpu got up to 72C during a youtube video but when not giving it much load it is staying about 60-65 ish.

              Hi ratdude747

I have done some experiments in the past on the HP laptops that I get in for repair after correctly cleaning out the by takeing it apart replaceing any heat sink compound with the one i have used for the last 30 odd years only ever baught three 25g tube last a long time I use less than the manufacturers when I have assembled it I then check that the rubber feet are in tackt if not I replace then so the laptop is off the bench surface I messure the temp by the laptop exaust grill I then put the laptop on a lsaptop stand wich raises the back up then did the same check the results were with out stand the temp was about 3 or 4 times higher. so I recomend to all my trade and public customers to get a staad cost here UK £1 less than 2$ us and never put a laptop on a bed carpet your lap air needs to flow. and if fan etc; cleaned regular. you will have your laptop running a lot longer hope this helps a lot of people.

well, I know not to use it directly on a bed... that defeats the purpose of the fan and will fry a laptop in a month.... as for the temps, I was using lm-sensors to read the laptop's sensors... example:

                $ sensors
                acpitz-virtual-0
                Adapter: Virtual device
                temp1: +44.5°C (crit = +99.0°C)

                nouveau-pci-0100
                Adapter: PCI adapter
                temp1: +65.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +110.0°C)

                coretemp-isa-0000
                Adapter: ISA adapter
                Core 0: +44.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)
                Core 1: +44.0°C (high = +100.0°C, crit = +100.0°C)

Hi, somebody knows the thickness of thermal pads for M15 R1? Or if someone have this Alienware model, can take measure for original thermal pads.

Restore solder pads for SMC on MacBook A1466
                  by dbuergi
                  Hi all,

i got a A1466 logic board for spare parts but it looks like the SMC ist bad. I got several spares but somehow i was too fast while removing it and ripped some pads off. You can see the damage attached.
Just for experience i would like to restore the lost pads but before i start (haven't done this before) do you have some hints or tutorials how to do it?
As written i want to improve skills so it doesnt matter if it takes longer.

Sony PS4 ADP400DR - help needed figuring out shorted pads under capacitor C 31
                  by supravit2000
                  Hi!

A friend of mine gave me a dead PS5 to look at. I am totally inexperienced, but when a damage is simple (i.e. failed DAP41 on PS4s, etc.), when replacing just the IC and the other very common failing parts of these consoles, problem is fixed. So I checked the voltage of the PSU - none was present. Model is ADP 400DR. I have a bunch of spare parts around, so first thing I did was to replace the IC DAP 053 (they seem quite expensive, so I put a replacement unit - TEA2016AAT. When plugged to the power outlet, 12V did come present.
So I reassembled the PS5 and pressed the power...

                  PAD repair? What are pads?
                  by Forumzboard899
                  Hello,

This is a Roland MC-505 synthesizer I bought used years ago and 1 of the knobs was bent.

Eventually it started 'ghost editing' by changing the parameter of this knob on its own.

I resoldered the 5 pins on this knob (the two larger solder spots above these 3 smaller ones is for the same knob).

Then it started happening again, or maybe the knob stopped working totally (I set it aside months ago and forgot about it).

I bought a replacement knob/Potentiometer but when I recently opened it up, it seems the previous repair...

820-00138-A - Advice on how to fix corroded missing / pads
                  by mikay786
Working on this a MacBook i purchased, has some corrosion around what according to the schematic is SSD CURRENT SENSE circuit. I've got 3 missing pads

The pad left side of R3742, where would be best to run a jumper wire too?

I assume the other 2 missing pads should be simple enough with top C3701 pad which appears to be connected to the other components on the same plane. Pad on right side of R3742 just need to make sure is connected to trace.

Mainly struggling with left pad of R3742 and where to run a jumper, maybe a via as appears to go to multiple...
