    ps5 edm-033 dead after hdmi/usb ports destroyed

    hello guys,

    i need help to repair a edm-033 ps2
history : as always hdmi port and usb ports destroyed after unplugged
after change them, ps5 dead too : 1 beep, no blue light. after inspection 1.8v power was shorted, and because of dead panasonic chip. after remove it : no short anymore
    so i changed it
now i have got 5v stby,, 3.3v stby, 3.3v power, 1.8v power and no short on them
but the ps5 is dead again : 1 beep, near 10 seconds with power lines and then off, no blue light ...

i don't see any projection of liquid metal on pcb.

what can i check now, i'm lost ...

    thank you !

You mean it stays on for 10 seconds without blue light? Unusual. But if it does, maybe something is overheating.
Also, check UART and HDMI chip/port area for missing components.

      hello

      some news, bad news

i finally find that f7002 is blown, a find dead short on 1.8v line.
i have injected 1.2v 2amp courant, the only thing heating up is the other side of the board, circuit with A2 buck converter (right?) ,

on this side : (check the picture) short to ground is indicated
when i inject on test point 1 : the coil at the right heating up, and when i injected at the upper side of this coil , the chip heating up
      when i inject on test point 2 : nothing is hot....nothing !!!

i don't know what to search now

Test point 2 is ground. Remove the capacitor next to the red circle and check, if the short is still present. If yes, remove the chip and test again.
I assume F7002 is the one on the picture? I don't have edm-033 on hand right now. If yes, check for shorts to ground on both sides of the fuse.

          hello
some more precise informations, sorry for bad quality of picture (the picture above was taken on internet and not exactly correspond at edm-033)
2 pictures here with mesures description and diode mode readings :
picture 1 : side of APU and at f7002 location. here fuse is blown but no short at its sides, the short is on the 1.8v line (i think it is) at the extreme right.
picture 2 : on the opposite side of APU but exactly at the same location of f7002 circuit, here short on the bottom line. i think it is the same line as the APU side where i found the short.

i have remove all caps on this line and de A2 marked chip (opposite side of APU) and nothing change : i always have that damned short.

          thank you for help

Short means how many ohms? Did you inject voltage into the shorted rail after removing both the caps and the chip?

              hello

yes, i try removing caps and the chip but short always there, and nothing get warm..
don't know where this 1.8v voltage line goes elsewhere, maybe i could finally find the short

1.8V, among other things, goes to the southbridge chip. You said that USB ports ware also damaged. Data lines from USB go to SB as well. Maybe it is damaged.
When you inject voltage, what the current draw is? Do you use bench power supply and thermal camera?
