If you don't want to wait for long or expensive shipping, there are many many computer motherboards for Intel or AMD processors over the last 10 years that use 3300uF/6.3V low ESR capacitors.
I often use old computer motherboards to scavenge capacitors from. You may check around at old computer shops. These are obsolete boards by now and they may give them to you free.
Some older motherboards may have capacitors from the "capacitor plague" years, but if they're not swollen by now, they're probably still good ones.Comment

Agree. In all my time in the past when I was working with TV's or computer monitors, I only ever come across one switching transformer with shorted turns. And from memory it was in a Sharp portable CRT telly.
Heaps of flyback trannys with shorted turns, even the occasional CRT deflection yoke, but just the one Chopper X-former.
True. Though I've had a fair share of 110V versions come through my work bench, but none with a faulty tranny.
Admittedly I've only come across three PSU's with this fault, and everyone of them the 240V version, and only the Delta types.
You are 100% correct.
Though the voltages can be changed to suit either 240 or 110 volt mains supplies.

By the way, a few years back I was able to fit a Delta PSU into an X-Box 360 power supply case. I had to mod it a fair bit, and now I use it as a 5V and 3.3V supplement power supply.
As you can see, I had to add a small project case to extend it, as it was a fairly tight fit in the 360 case. Plus the small transformer had to be fitted externally for the same lack of space.

As the title says, Xbox 360 Polymer Capacitors, replacing all on a Kronos 1 revision board.
I went over a thread here (Xbox 360 with blown caps) and gather some extremely useful knowledge!
If I have things right, I can replace them TO
x9 : 1500uF 16V 10x20mm
TO: 470uF Nichicon FPCAP R7
x2 : 820uF 6.3V 8x12mm
TO: 2.5V 820uF Nichicon FPCAP R5
On this revision, there are other 820uF polymer capacitors for GPU/CPU - I'll be replacing those anyway with the above FPCAP R5

I'm looking at an original Xbox PSU: Foxlink ftps-0002 rev. B. The 12 V output is too low, and the 5 V output is too (?) high. Unfortunately I don't have an oscilloscope but only a DMM for diagnosis.
Measured voltages with no load:
After rectifier diodes
12V: 6.17 V
5V: 5.67 V
Secondary transformer pins AC measurement (really don't know if this says anything)
12V: 2-2.5 V
5V: 1.04 V

Hi there, I have an Xbox One original in which I have all the 1.8v, 3.3v and 5.0v standby power rails present, however my 12v rail is not turning on and the enable signal PSU_V12P0_EN from the SMC to turn the power supply on is missing. There is high resistance on this line so it's not shorted directly to ground which leaves me with not many options.
Was looking at a schematic and see the enable is created by the SMC. I have 3.3v on SMC_RST_N_IN but I'm a little stuck on where to look next. Is it likely that the SMC has gone bad or am I missing something else (it's my first time with... -
i have a shipment of capacitors arriving friday. i'm wanting to try an experiment where i fill all the cap spots(instead of just the 3 spots) in front of the processors with 3300uf caps to see if the extra power being available to the gpu/cpu help the xbox's performance. my question is, is there any chance that this will damage the xbox? also, has anyone ever tried this before? -
i have a 1.1v and i am having issues with faint wavy lines on the screen that i am trying to make perfect so it will be my main xbox.. also have some 1.0v's that are doing it but to a lesser degree. i really don't want to do a full board recap, especially don't want to have to replace those smds, so i want to find which specific caps that filter the video signal. i have already replaced several caps and messed up one of them that caused a dead short(has been repaired). so i really don't want to just do all the caps. plus, those 1.1v boards have a lot of them. i'd really like to just focus on the...
