Re: "A Network Cable is Unplugged"
maybe some strange RAM error, but majority of hard to trace errors are due to faulty motherboard, and today that means - check caps first (if this error was not from beginning)...
And problem is - they, caps, could be visually good, but can make problems after some time of being stressed...
And memtest is tool, for testing RAM, if RAM passes all tests, with high probability, can be claimed that RAM is good - and fault is at motherboard (sometimes PSU, but motherboard if first place to look)...
And as so many times here repeated, CPU-vrm is first place to fix (highest load - can do all sort of nasty things to whole motherboard)...Leave a comment:

Re: "A Network Cable is Unplugged"
No, I saw the page fault error but it only showed up once the backup was running. Otherwise the machine never showed any signs of a memory issue. Took five days to capture the BSOD in a state where the machine couldn't reset and I could actually see the damn problem.
Memtest weeded out the problems to two 1gb sticks that were failing memtest in any slot. Right now I'm loping along with two Corsair 512mb DIMMs until some replacement ram shows up.Leave a comment:

Re: "A Network Cable is Unplugged"
That's definitely not a classic symptom!
The usual symptom is a BSOD with code 0x00000050, 0x0000004E or 0x0000008E. Or a bogus file-not-found error.
At least with a RAM slot issue, it looks common to get a file copy error when trying to reinstall Windows. Or BSOD 0x00000050. (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA)
If you don't receive any of the errors I mentioned, the RAM is probably fine.Last edited by RJARRRPCGP; 11-30-2013, 04:18 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: "A Network Cable is Unplugged"
So next time you need to run MEMtest386 for around a day to cook the ram and see if it fails.Leave a comment:

Another 24 hours under a full battery of regular use and still no interruptions.
Problem solved.Leave a comment:

Actually, I'm curious. The only variable here other than the ram was the cover being off. Let me put that back on and see what happens in another 24.Leave a comment:

Re: "A Network Cable is Unplugged"
Like I said, I don't want to troubleshoot the router in this thread. No, heat is not the problem. And both routers reboot when this happens, even though they are completely different brands and models.
Regarding the bad cable comment - that doesn't explain why the router would reboot.
I'm glad to see you have found the problem to your issue, pentium.Last edited by momaka; 11-29-2013, 01:35 AM.Leave a comment:

Was streaming from twitch and youtube while connected to three IRC servers and it's been pretty quiet for the last 24 hours and everything seems to of calmed down.
Man does bad ram do some weeeird shit.Leave a comment:

Re: "A Network Cable is Unplugged"
After a week of frustrating trying to backup only for it to randomly crash I found that two of my sticks of RAM are bad. Either they didn't survive the VRM on the old board blowing up or that's what you get when you buy cheap unbranded ram.
Just in case for some extremely odd reason it was that glitching the chipset out I'll try load testing the system again with my remaining (and memtest passed) ram.Leave a comment:

Re: "A Network Cable is Unplugged"
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I'd like to add that I have what appears to be an extremely similar problem. Except in my case, the router restarts *most* of the time when I get that "A Network Cable is Unplugged" message. Even more weird is the fact that sometimes the message pops up before my router restarts, and sometimes the router doesn't restart at all but I still get the message. And if that's not enough, I have also tried 2 completely different routers with 2 completely different power supplies, multiple computers connected with different ethernet cables, and I know both routers work without problem back in my parents house. So what gives? I don't know. All I know is that I am in an area with lots of military bases around, and cell-phone coverage also tends to go off every now and then for a second or two (but it doesn't coincide with the router going out). But that doesn't happen as often as my internet going out.
So I don't know what the hell is going with my stuff either, but I just wanted to throw this out here in case it turns out to be the same problem. And oh yeah - sometimes the router will restart by itself without any of my computers being on. I wonder if this could be some kind of external bot attack.
BTW, I don't know how our internet is handled since I am in a dorm complex and all we really get is just a Cat5e jack from the wall. But in any case, whatever is connected on the other side of the ethernet cable, I don't think it should be able to make my router restart.
Again, I'm not trying to solve my problem here since this is pentium's thread, but just wanted to state my observations as this could potentially be the same problem.
is router wireless type?Leave a comment:

by PatriarxisHello.
i have this problem with a lenovo ideapade s145-15api.
The charging led stays on even when the charger is unplugged. Also in windows it shows that is charging.
Do you have any idea? -
by flat-eartherThe charging indicator light on my ASUS X54H laptop is always on even when the charger is disconnected.
Windows also shows ''Plugged in'' when charger is not connected.
This problem started year ago gradually, when unplugging the charger the charging light took several seconds to disappear, then minutes, and now almost always on even when unplugged for an entire day.
Strangely, before sometimes immediately when plugging in the charger the charging light went away, and later came back with it connected.

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....-

by davgI just bought a new ThinkPad laptop and I need to connect it to my home network. I have several computers on my network and can see each other in File Explorer and the older ones can communicate with each other (even with the new one) but the ThinkPad can see the other computers but can't communicate with them. I get the (network error 0x80070035 The network path not found). I tried several scenarios that I found on line but none of them worked?? Since the other computers on the network can communicate fine I'm assuming the problem is with the setup of the ThinkPad? All computers are running Windows...

by Patch2I have a broken connector (believe it's a 6 pin mini-DIN) on a cable. The metal shroud and all but one of the pins are separated from the cable, and just stuck together for the photo. The other end is an unknown rectangular connector. The cable is for the foot pedals on an Italian made electronic piano, and the company is out of business. Looking for ideas on how to fix it. I have a soldering iron, but I'm not very skilled at soldering, so getting a retrofit for the broken end may be beyond my ability. The other end would be easier to replace, if I could get a mini-DIN cable with the same number...8 Photos
