    Cable Repair

I have a broken connector (believe it's a 6 pin mini-DIN) on a cable. The metal shroud and all but one of the pins are separated from the cable, and just stuck together for the photo. The other end is an unknown rectangular connector. The cable is for the foot pedals on an Italian made electronic piano, and the company is out of business. Looking for ideas on how to fix it. I have a soldering iron, but I'm not very skilled at soldering, so getting a retrofit for the broken end may be beyond my ability. The other end would be easier to replace, if I could get a mini-DIN cable with the same number of wires and cut it. See attached pics.

Dimensions for the rectangular connector are:
    12.43mm wide
    4.11mm high
    6.61mm deep

I guess the easiest way will be to buy something like this https://www.amazon.com/Mini-Din-Male-Black-Cable-feet/ and replace one of the ends with the rectangular connector.

      Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

      Assuming...

      Hello All,

tl;dr: minimal electronics experience and my first repair, lifted 8 pads off the laptop display LED controller board when attempting a connector replacement, options are attempting pad repair or jump wiring.

      Laptop Model: MacBook Pro 15 Mid-2014 Retina, A1398 MGXA2LL/A
eDP Display: Samsung LSN154YL01-A02, assembly sold as Apple part 661-8310
Soldering Equipment: Hakko FX-888D w/ T-18 tips (Chisel, Conical, Bevel types)

I needed to replace the 30-pin I-PEX Cabline connector (labeled J8300 in the Apple 820-3662 mainboard schematics),...

      Lenovo Thinkpad E15 Gen 2 NM-D011 - No display ? External , yes!

Here is a pretty crazy one.

      Step 1.
Laptop was brought to me as dead not working. Removed everything , cleared everything.
      Step 2.

Some liquid damage close to the Type - C connector, and the connector even though it was cleaned wasn't charging the battery . Removed the Type-C port, and replaced it. Now the laptop turns on and charges battery. Shows external screen , not internal.
      Step 3.

Took out the screen and checked it to a secondary Gen 2 i have, screen works like a charm.
      Step 4.

Lets ,dive into the board. I see the edp cable on the...

So, laptop was with dead cpu, replaced. Now everything works except i have problems with audio. The problem is related with long audio cable that from one side is plugged in the motherboard and on the other side is connected to audio daughter board that goes on the top of the laptop(behind screen). The symptoms are:

      1. In bios everything ok (with long audio cable on connector j3701 connected or not),
      2. With windows installed everything ok if long audio cable on connector j3701 is not connected,
      3. With windows installed and long audio cable on connector j3701 is connected...
