Viewsonic VP150M Turns on but has horizontal "stuff" on screen

    Hi,

I have this old LCD that has been sitting in the corner for a few years now. It has the following problem (see enclosed pics first).

The lcd will power on with no problem. The problem is that the picture seems to have "horizontal striations". Horizontal striations may not be the proper name but i could not think of anything better. If you know what this is called please let me know. See enclosed pics .....picture is worth a 1000 words.

Also, do you think this is fixable or not woth the time.

Take it apart and take a look at capacitors just in case.

    Cheers, Wizard

I have had several monitors that have had a similar problem. the VGA cable was what I'd call hard wired to the monitor, Well being to lazy to pull the desktop out of its cubby hole each time I hooked up a extension cable to the computer and pushed it back into its cubby hole. Well it took four monitors for it to sink into my thick head that my extension cable was the problem.
        Al.
Whatever I do, I consider it a success, if in the end I am breathing, seeing, feeling and hearing!

this monitor had no hardwired cable. there was a female VGA connector directly soldered on the LCD controller board.
used the VGA cable that normally goes to my 2nd (cheapo) LCD to test the Hyundai. result is in the pic above..

the monitor ended up in the garbage as it was in pretty rough shape (both casing and panel), had tons of surface mounted dried up caps and.. well.. it was just a cheapo 15" monitor..

I have access to an ESR meter but i dont have it right now. All the surface mount caps "look" fine.

I will try and borrow my friends ESR meter.

            Any other suggestions?

I don't think the problem is this, but just in case: Make sure you're at native resolution.

i checked all the caps on the board using an ESR meter. All appear to be ok.

                Any other suggestions?

Regarding "native resolution"...........i tried different resolutions but all had the same effect.

iphone XS turns off when press on screen.

                  Hi,

I have a iphone XS that came in for a screen replacement, the screen was badly cracked, and inside missing scues, on the back of the screen still the blue protector, the screen was a LCD. So we replaced the screen and all good, installed the screen and we noticed that pressing the screen with a bit of force but not excessive, the phone dies. After plugging the charger it turns back on, but again if you press it it dies. I open the phone again, and I can't see anything major, with the phone open, if I press on the logic board, battery, charging board, or even putting pressure on...

MacBook Pro 2011 turns on with keyboard light , screen dead
                  by Rav_tangle
Hi all , thanks for having me & I think this has been asked before but my case seems a bit odd.
I have a MacBook Pro , board 820-2915a and it turns on , chimes etc etc , keyboard lights up, fans spins , can turn caps lock on/off but screen is dead.
Iv tried the resets , shine torch through back logo , nothing , it seems the screen has no power. If I plug charger , it charges but if I disconnect battery it displays green light but won't turn on. Iv tried screen on with another board & it works & seems I'm not getting any voltage at pin 2 , next to ground pin .
                  is this...

As stated by the person I collected the TV from, it just stopped working overnight. However, I still gave it a go to try and repair it.

There is a thread on the same TV but with slightly different issues where they had to tape connection points on the ribbon cable, so I want to see if this is repairable by any chance.

After bringing it home and plugging it in, the TV turned on with its backlight working but had no picture. After removing the back cover, the first thing I tried is to unplug one of the ribbon cables and the situation is as follows.
