Opening the unit following by taking pictures and uploading them, getting cap specs followed by posting the info. Don't use inline pictures, just let us click on the thumbnails. Please?

Hey, I had this same problem with a gateway monitor but i have not found a fix yet. I posted this problem here:

            https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=6940

with no input signal - cycles through 3 screens of different brightness then one screen of test pattern and then goes back out with power button LED change from green to amber, as usual.

with input signal - Monitor simply cycles through 3 screens then test pattern then keeps cycling.

Other sites that I have seen in researching this problem talk about possible firmware issues with this monitor. If this is the case, then theres nothing we can do about this. I hope I'm wrong in this case.

I would swear that within the past couple of weeks someone posted about a similar problem. He found the button combination to take him into the service menu and turned off Burn In mode. No, I don't remember what model monitor, who it was, or precisely when it was.

Thanks for that info guys. I had put that gateway to the side for now but you just gave me a reason to dig it back out. I'll post the results.

Sounds like a problem with the lcd panel.

Unlikely. I BELIEVE the driver responsible is bonded to the flex tape that links the panel electronics to the glass panel. Even if the problem was on the panel electronics circuit board, they are pretty much unrepairable.

                          There are two possible reactions:

                          1. You are so angry that your Gateway monitor has failed you resolve never to buy anything else with the Gateway logo.

                          2. Happiness that now you can justify buying a new, better monitor.

OK, finally getting back to this monitor. This time I posted one of the screens that pop up. Again, this monitor simply loops through 3 screens of different brightness and then splashes this test screen. I have no idea of how to get this out of this endless loop. It's a pain to take this thing apart but I already have changed the capacitors with known good ones. I have read similar posts about other monitor types having a reset sequence but could not locate a procedure for this one. Need help. ( Gateway FPD1976w / LE1936 )

                              Hello,

I am having the issue that whenever I turn on my monitor it is just blankly white and proceeds to go into standby. However I do know why it is doing this. I have stripped the monitor down and have posted the images of the screen plus the insides. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

We need a clear focused picture of your logic board. Since you are getting a blank white screen, your logic board could be bad (maybe bad caps, open fuse, bad voltage regulator) or the cables to/from the panel need to be reseated?

A white screen can be caused by a failure on the LCD control board. This is the board at the top that spans the width of the LCD panel. It's at the other end of the ribbon cable that connects to your logic board. It could be under a metal plate or covered with a sheet of clear plastic. Try looking for a fuse marked Fxx (where xx is a number). It should be in the area of the ribbon cable. Check to see if the fuse is blown.

I think I found it, would it happen to be the white component with the "k" on it? There is a "F1" above it.

Yes, that's the fuse. With power off and monitor unplugged, set your meter to resistance and measure the resistance across the the fuse. It should read 0.5ohms or less.
