I have a LG Flatron W2442PA (actually I have two but only one is acting up) that has been in use for a few years. Recently the backlight cuts out and then comes back after a few seconds. A few weeks ago when it started, it did it every day or two. Now it is doing it every minute or so (randomly). Occasionally the picture will have a bunch of lines for a split second but that isn't very often.
This unit has two boards; a power supply board and a logic board.
I'm guessing since the backlight wires connect to the power supply board, that's where the problem is.
A visual inspection shows the caps look okay, but there isn't any way to be sure.
I'm thinking the easiest thing to do is replace the electrolytic caps and see if that fixes it. (see the attached pics for component IDs) I'm thinking C203, C204, C205, C206, C212 for sure, probably C301 and maybe C103 and C105.
C101 and C108 look fine and I'm guessing I would have bigger problems if they were going bad.
Does this seem like a sound plan? If not, what would you recommend?
I've attached a service manual.
I've got a Fluke 79 meter, a soldering station and many years of experience soldering.
I'll post more pics in the next messages.
