you need to find out where that defective 5v supply comes from that's feeding the 1117

At one of the capacitors the voltage is fluctuating between 2 and 5v

I have circled the bad capacitor also I noticed that one of the legs on the voltage regulator is missing ? At least it seems like it.

Jot down that capacitor value and order a replacement just in case. Is there any inductor and/or resistor before that capacitor? From the looks of things, first have to make sure the +5V rail is stable by replacing those Lelon capacitors on the power supply board. There could be ripples that the meter did not detect (will show as average RMS voltage). Then check again if there is still voltage fluctuations at this capacitor. You could also simply replace that capacitor just to test...

@lexwalker the 5v rail is 100% stable coming into the logic board however the dim line is fluctuating from 0.33v - 3.3v.

replace the cap, and about the regulator - the missing center pin is connected to the tab that is soldered down - so no problem there.

Ordered all of the caps should have them within a week as the warehouse in my town needs to import them.

OK kze should be good assuming you have correct uf and v
Im still not sure its going to fix it though
Did you try it with vga input. nad did you do any tests on
                        the LED strings/driver circuit.

I did not since there is no power in the monitor anyways.

If by the driver circuit you mean the the second board(logic) yes I did carry out tests there, everything seems fine except for the fact that there is the fluctuating current in there at one of the pins of the voltage regulator.

                                Hi,

I've got the same monitor which died too, after 3 years only...
I'm trying to open it up, but I didn't figure how to do so, at least without breaking something. Any help to remove the case would be very welcome!

                                Thanks in advance,

                                  Hello,
I've exactly the same problem on the same monitor : all voltages (5, 3.3 and 1.8V) are ok, all capacitors seems to be ok but the can seems to permanantly reboot. Maybe like if a watchdog retstart the microcontroller...
When rebooting, all voltages are stable (with oscilliscope) but an inrush current occurs at each start up.
Seems like firmware is currupted... I'll try to replace quartz but without conviction.
Did you manage to repare your screen ?
                                  Thank you,

                                          has somebody an update?

I found this http://www.elektroda.pl/rtvforum/topic2353592.html suggesting that the Novatek Chip has to be replaced.

I have the same problem and if the chip is broken, I would need the whole video board (I don't have the tools to solder SMDs). But I don't find anyplace where to buy the video board

                                            Good day!
I have a customer's laptop — Acer Nitro 5 AN515-54 (EH5VF - LA-H501P). It has a display on the external monitor and it's working fine, but the issue is NO display on the internal screen. I already replaced the eDP cable and checked the LCD connector pins.

                                            Here are the voltage readings:
                                            • Input – 19V (stable)
                                            • +LCDVDD – 3.3V briefly, then drops to 0V
                                            • EDP_HPD – 3.3V briefly, then drops to 0V

                                            Hi,
Got this working ips led monitor by the brand of
Iiyama Prolite XUB2390HS presumably a 23 inch type given to me with suspected bad led backlight. To test it, i unplugged the bad flat ribbon type connector and plugged it a good flat ribbon led connector scrapped from a HP Pavillion 27cw (led strip with 60 led). Good news is the HP led strip lights up but not fully, in between there are about 15 unlit leds.(as picture attached shows).

Fyi, i had not opened and removed the old bad led strip. My question is whether is it possible to cut some of the extra leds(say...

                                            Hi everyone,

I have a MacBook Pro A1989 that was likely exposed to liquid. It doesn't display an image on the built-in screen, but the screen is backlit (you can't see the Apple logo or any other elements when held up to light). The laptop provides 20V and 1.5-2A, and it works fine when I use it with an external monitor. Currently, the connector for the display (J8500) is disconnected. I'm writing to ask for help in diagnosing the issue. I've heard that when the J8500 is exposed to liquid, the processor pin responsible for the display might short-circuit, and I'd like to know...

                                            Hello!
Looks like I fried something when my EDP cable got squeezed on the hinge. I replaced the cable but still no display. Laptop works fine with external monitor connected through HDMI and Display Port-USB C port. I took it apart and I see a burnt component. Can anyone help me identify what this component is? I tried to use schematics for another G15 but it does not match on the amount of pins and size. I attached pictures. The component has a label on it - (21A29)

                                            Hello Badcaps Community,

I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working. I am looking for guidance on self-repair. In particular, I am after the firmware for the monitor. At the end, I have included monitor model information and links to pics and vids of the issue.

The problem is that it will not display a picture on any of its inputs. And the on-screen menu does not appear. The power button works properly. It powers on with the remote as well. But the on-screen menu does not appear, even when not connected to any...
