Need help replacing led strip on Iiyama Prolite XUB2390HS monitor

    Hi,
Got this working ips led monitor by the brand of
Iiyama Prolite XUB2390HS presumably a 23 inch type given to me with suspected bad led backlight. To test it, i unplugged the bad flat ribbon type connector and plugged it a good flat ribbon led connector scrapped from a HP Pavillion 27cw (led strip with 60 led). Good news is the HP led strip lights up but not fully, in between there are about 15 unlit leds.(as picture attached shows).

Fyi, i had not opened and removed the old bad led strip. My question is whether is it possible to cut some of the extra leds(say 9 leds) from the other end of the HP strip so i can fit to my Iiyama monitor., and still get a working led backlight?
Appreciate if someone who had done this kind of modding can share and comment. Thank you.

Re: Need help replacing led strip on Iiyama monitor

it depends on the tracks - look at how the strip connects the leds together.
if you do cut it down you may need to add a jumpwire

      Thanks for quick reply.
Attached picture i made a cut after led no.51 and i tried a jumpwire to connect the scratched horizontal line to positive side of the led no.51, but no lights on led. Fyi, i am using led no.60 being the last led as guide line on how the connection works.
Appreciate your further assistance if possible. Thank you.

        Hi,
Attached picture of led no.51 which was cut to length to fit inside the Iiyama monitor backlight casing.
After cutting i used dc3v AA size battery to test the led on no.50 and no.51 separately. They still lit up fine. (I had label the(+) and (-) in blue for positive and negative side respectively.)
Is my label of the red jumpwire suppose to work and will light up the whole led strip? Please give your comment and advice if i got it all wrong. Thank you.

The issue you might have is if the replacement LEDs are not the same operating current might be issue with how bright individual LED lights might be

Measured the led size of old broken strip on LBM230P1603 and it is module type 8520(8.5mmx2.0mm) which is the same type leds on the HP strip.
Done soldered a jumpwire by connecting to anode side(+) of led no.51 as mentioned on earlier post. Switched on power and led lights up from led no.1 to led no.30. At least a little progress up to now. I wondered why the rest of led from led no.31 to no.51 not lighting up.
Checked the whole strip and found led no.30 and no.31 not connected. The other led on led no.45 and no.46 also not connected. Should i solder these two joints in order for the whole modded strip to work? Kindly advice and correct me if i am wrong on this. Thank you for helping.

Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

Dell monitor PSU vs Dell laptop PSU
              by keepread
              Hi there!
Someone gave me their old monitor, it's Dell S2715ht.
The owner was using it when his PSU began to smell and then to smoke. It literally began to melt. He turned the monitor off, pulled the PSU, and ditched it because it was smelly even after it cooled. So I got the monitor but not the plug.
Now, I tried to bring the monitor back to life, by plugging one of my many Dell laptop PSUs. They are of the same 19.5V, and the wattage of the laptop PSU is higher than that which the monitor is rated for. Visually, the socket on the monitor seems compatible, and the plug plugs...

              Hi There!
I'm trying to help my friend who owns a restaurant be just bought.
He has a very long LED strip running along all the walls and columns. The strip is attached facing down 2in above the floor, using a wall panel that ends in a metal rail that finishes the panel underneath
It's stuck using, I guess, the 2 sided tape that comes with the strip
The issue is that like 1/2 of the full length, including 1/2 one wall, another entire wall, and one column, flickers after 4 or 5 minutes ON. Particularly it flashes staying OFF most of the time and flashing ON for 1 tenth...

              AOC AG493UCX 49-inch monitor - Firmware request
              by wattage
              Hello Badcaps Community,

I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working. I am looking for guidance on self-repair. In particular, I am after the firmware for the monitor. At the end, I have included monitor model information and links to pics and vids of the issue.

The problem is that it will not display a picture on any of its inputs. And the on-screen menu does not appear. The power button works properly. It powers on with the remote as well. But the on-screen menu does not appear, even when not connected to any...

Lately I am experiencing the deja-vu incident on one of the led monitor like this.
