    Re: EMachines E183HV

I got a couple new A4 diodes today. I'll give them a whirl tonight. Its my mom's monitor and she kept turning it off and on. I told her to leave the power on and it will go to sleep on its own. Don't know if turning it on and off can cause it stress.

      Re: EMachines E183HV

sleep or on-off shouldn't affect the inverter side anymore one way than the other.

      once you replace them
see if swapping the plugs on the bulbs works right. it should.
then run it a while and check that group of transistors to see if that one is running hot again

        Re: EMachines E183HV

Well I found my problem. One CCFL is toast. Now how to find a replacement. Can someone help me? It says MKE2 on the plug. Outer edge to outer edge is 16 3/4". I've attached pics.

EDIT: I removed the melted plastic on the end of the CCFL and soldered the wire directly to the bulb. Will that cause a problem? I turned the screen on and let it run for 10 mins and I get no hissing anymore.

Well so much for that. I put the bulbs in, dropped the case on it and broke the bulb. Well that sucks.

Oh well. I'll wait until I find one at the landfill with a broken screen.

I figured it was a bulb

finding an 18 inch in the landfill might be tough since 18" isn't that popular
you can get them on ebay on the US side for 6 bucks but ship to Canada will probably be $10
If buying them, I would get 2 or 3

                it's probably a 2.6mm one

I just threw out an Asus with a broken screen a few weeks ago. Had I known. Hindsight is 20/20. Would a bulb work from a 19" or would it have to be a 18.5"? Found this too:

Double check your length of the actual glass.
that ad says 414mm and I thought that you said yours were 16.75" which would be more like 425

                    a standard format 19" I believe is around 15.5

shorter can work in a pinch but you will have to reroute the wires straight off of the bulb instead of 90degrees out of the bulb and you may have to trim the silicone caps

an old style 19" wide screen is close to that if you are measuring the screen
You should measure the actual bulb

I edited it after you posted. The bulb measures outer edge to outer edge is 16 3/4" including connector.

ok, so you must have a wide screen and the 19 wide screen should work

FYI: when ordering bulbs, you measure the actual glass of the bulb

It is a wide screen. Great! Thanks for all the help!

                                same price too.

So if I buy one of those kits, do I just modify the plug?

no, they come with a new invertor.
btw - what is your tube-length in mm?

if you scroll down the ebay page there are some install info's

                                        the last post i did?
no - same seller, different item.

go to the sellers "shop" and look at the led conversion kits for tv/monitor

I never did one of these, but, it looks like you will have to do a bit of rewiring to use an led kit
It does not plug into the plugs that your bulbs already use
