Re: Gateway FPD2485W - capacitor related?
Hi
That is an oldie !!
You do have at least one bad capacitor that I can see.
It is at the bottom left corner of the first picture.
I cant see the rest of the power supply or the main board to see if any others have obvious issues.
ripped which tiny cable ?? the power button one ? and if it is this one, did you rip it at the power button board end or the main board end end or in the middle ?

Re: LG w2241s 2sec and then black
usually not all 4 bulbs will go bad at one time , but ??
You do need 4 working bulbs for it to stay on
to try to figure out if it is bad bottom or bad top bulbs:
you need to use two new lamps on the bottom two plugs and put two old top lamps into the top two plugs and try it.
and if that does not stay on, install the two new ones into the top two plugs and the 2 used bottom ones into the bottom two plugs
if your new bulbs do not at least flash on on the top 2 or the bottom 2 , then the transformer might be bad...

Re: Hannspree HF257 - White Screen
if you remove the residual capacitor parts and take it out of the equation, you can turn it on and if it was an issue, it should give you a picture since the other caps are in what appears to be a parallel setup.
As far as replacing it, you would need a cap tester to check one of the other ones out of circuit to see what size you need to replace it.

Re: VIZIO E470VA just glows black - Lots of details included
I hate when companies use different boards on same model numbers !!
The ones I looked at did not look like this, so I do not know if your fuse is marked F1 or where it is since I can't see through that shield
I do see another heatsink under that shield, so if it has a BGA type chip under there, that could be a likely culprit...

Re: VIZIO E470VA just glows black - Lots of details included
HI
It sounds like your backlights are on and the pixels are not lighting
So either your main board is not sending signal to the t-con board or the t-con is not translating it to the lcd panel
try checking the f1 fuse on the t-con board
If that is ok and getting power, check the signal pins for voltages to see if power is getting to the t-con connectors

Re: Vizio XVT3D650SV - Help
well, the controller chip (whichever one it might be) is getting 5 volts and turning it to 3.3 and trying to turn on, but isn't
It may be the chip under the one heatsink ? or could be somewhere else and trring to figure it out could be rough.
you would first have to try to figure out where the power button 3.3 volts is coming from to have any clue where to start. even if you find that chip, it could be something else stopping it !

Re: WESTINGHOUSE EW24T7EW - no backlight
Well, I found a bottom picture of the board and it says 12volts on two of the pins at con2
then it also looks like this may feed a voltage regulator at Q11 which might be 5 volts to those two connectors ??? If those two connectors do not lead anywhere then that voltage may just be a feedback current to the one 8 pin IC at IC2
check voltages with the board all by itself and then again with it connected to the main board

Re: Vizio XVT3D650SV - Help
well. I was hoping for an easy fix like a bad button, BUT, NOT !
do both power supplies give the same results voltage wise?
Did you recheck pin 13 and pin 14 & 16 to see if they show any signs of a voltage rise wile you push the power button (I think you checked 13 but not sure if you check 14 or 16)

Re: Vizio XVT3D650SV - Help
OK
I figure it might be multifunction
check for voltage at the 8 pin plug at the main board side (I think it is a J7 plug)
Then recheck the voltages at the power button end to make sure they are the same.
If you find voltage on a pin
Hold the tester in place so that you can see if the voltage drops when you push the power button. If you have several pins with voltage, keep check them to see if one drops

Re: Samsung UE46D8000
does the shadow get darker or travel further down the screen when you dim it ?
pictures would start to help, including a shot of the back which shows all the boards...

Re: Vizio XVT3D650SV - Help
On post 2 with your first set of pictures: Is that the power button shown on the second to last picture ? is it the bottom one in the picture with the 8 pin connector ?
If it is, does it rotate or push to turn on and off and does it normally do any other functions ?

Re: WESTINGHOUSE EW24T7EW - no backlight
why did you run 18 volts to the inverter when it looks like it is only supposed to use 12 ?
Where do con 4 and con 5 lead to and do they have voltage and is that voltage steady?

Re: LE37R88BD Backlight Turns Off After 2 - 3 Seconds
I missed where you said you tried a different inverter.
It is possible that they do have common issues especially with those style transformers, but I do not know for sure.
What you can do is try to see if one bulb might be totally cooked by trying to turn it on with one bulb plugged in at a time
Changing your desktop background to all white may help you see each bulbs brightness a little better
if for some reason one does not light or looks really dark, loosen the inverter so that...

Re: Vizio XVT3D650SV - Help
Now that we can get a good voltage:
so, is pin 13 showing voltage even if the main board is disconnected from the plug ? and is it still showing 5 volts ?
OR
Is it showing no voltages ?...

Re: Vizio XVT3D650SV - Help
ok
That is better
Now you can recheck pin 13 that budm wanted to see the value of when powered on and off and connected to the main board
also check it at the power supply with wires to cn202 disconnected
