Will all the lamps stay on with all original lamps connected? I wonder if the bottom connector has bent pins or cold joint on the pins since you solder in the test lamp to the bottom connector instead of using the socket.
Cold solder was something I thought of and was going to remove the cfl and try to connect all lamps from lcd and test but was waiting to see what you have in mind before I desolder the cfl.

I have to run for an hour or so, will test it when back but if you have any suggestions meanwhile please let me know so I can check when Im back.

    Cheers for all your help.

I removed the cfl by snipping the cables just so I don't mess with the solder in case it was good, I connected the lcd lamps and got 2 seconds to black again.

I re-soldered all the pins again and tested but also got the 2 seconds to black.

      This is so weird!

So with all original lamps back in place, you now get 2 seconds to black. But if you have test lamp on the bottom socket with either pink or blue lamp, the lamps will stay on. Not making sense to me right now, you got me on this one.

Do you think something will blow up if I solder a test lamp and at the same time connect all lamps in sockets?

That will trip over current circuit.
How about put the set of the bottom lamps on the top set of socket, and the top lamp set on the bottom set of the sockets (you will have to face the panel around).
For sure the pin inside the sockets are OK?

Pins are ok. Tested by flipping the board. same result but it seems like lamps stay on for maybe one more second

Is this the only monitor you have? I am thinking of trying this panel with another inverter of another monitor just to rule out the lamps. Or try this inverter with another panel. Taking the panel apart to inspect the lamps will be the last resort.

                    Unfortunately my only monitor.
I am still trying to understand how can all the lamps work when one of the connectors is not connected and a cfl is soldered. Also, why did the lamps work when the cfl was soldered to the bottom connector and not the top one.

I will solder the cfl again to the bottom connector and test again, I just want to make sure.

So it seems like it was just a weird lucky moment when all the lights stayed on. I just did all the steps again with cfl soldered to bottom connector and got 2 seconds to black.

Ok - I am very confused ( not an uncommon state) I wonder if a picture might help and a table showing the tests. It may also help you follow where we ask you to plug in and if we all use the same descriptions we will all know what it happening. See attached
Rather than trying to do a results table on screen perhaps easier to just write one out on paper then take a picture of it at the end. Hopefully we will get a combination that works for more than just the test.

I am happy for you to say its a duff idea and the "original" result" is just a guess as I have no idea which went where.

Budm keeps asking you to check the pins in the lamp wire sockets but you dont say they are good.

Also might be a good time to reflow the transformers and the blue high voltage caps - could be one of them acting up.

hahahaha.. Im laughing because things are becoming more confusing and my monitor situation is very unusual.

The pins are fine, the ones on the board are not bent and the ones on the cables are not loose.

The diagram you drew confused me a bit. Do you want me to use it to explain how my testing was done? Or use it to start new tests?

As for reflow, you mean solder again?

This explains my feelings towards the monitor right now monitor

Should I just take the lamps out? Maybe a visual inspection might help? Do you advise that, or will I encounter plastic pins and glue and all sorts of irreversible damage? You know how electronics companies are now, they don't stop you from opening devices, but they put traps all the way so you can never put it back together like it was. sorry for the long rant...

If it's mine, I have two set of lamps (4 lamps) that I use for testing, if my test lamps stay on, then I would plug in the original lamp in one at a time until one of them cause the 2-second to black. Getting to the lamps is not easy and you can easily damage the screen.
I just hope that it is not something intermittent in the inverter or in the lamp assembly. If you can make more test lamps, that will help.

It is up to you - Im sure you did them in a logical order but as neither budm nor I could follow it I hoped you would do them again and put the results in a table.
If you want just do a table with your previous test results.
When I started I was going to draw wires on the bulbs but it would be just too messy
and I was going to put on a full table but there was not enough room.
Reflow for me is remove as much old solder as you can using soldermop and perhaps adding some leaded solder then resolder using leaded solder.
Whether there is any benefit depends a bit on your soldering skills
Some people just re-melt the existing solder.

What's the maximum wattage that the cfl can be? I dont have any used ones under 32W except for the one I am already using to test. I don't think it would be a smart move for me to buy cfls to make them test lamps.

32W is too big for it to drive.

SO..... DID I FIGURE IT OUT BECAUSE OF YOUR HELP!?

Im so excited! Here's the update and the pictures... please tell me the one thats not turning on is a failed lamp...

Soldered 2 test bulbs, connected the monitor lamp to the other side, and it worked. Flipped the board (instead of moving the test bulbs to the other 2 connectors) connected monitor lamp, it failed.

                                    What's the verdict?

You did it right, that is how I test with a pair of lamps. So which set of lamp is bad, the top set or the bottom set? Did you leave them on long enough like 2 minutes to make sure they stay on?

Yes left them for a while, but maybe not 2 minutes.. going to turn it on right now and leave it a bit more.

Dumb question, the monitor has 2 or 4 lamps?

4 individual lamps, 2 per assembly, thus 4 set of connectors.
