EDIT: selldoor you did mention the L5973D in you first post, sorry didn't notice it.

Re: RC battery charger - Not sure where to start *HELP*
What someone on another site suggested and my findings.
The pictures are useful. I would start out by measuring voltages. Multimeter on the VDC 20V range, unit powered up.
There are three interesting areas: The connector to the LCD board and both upright boards left and right of the one with the USB output.
On the LCD board connector, measure the voltage from black to red and black to orange.
On the board with the small black heatsink, measure the voltage across any capacitor you can access without...

Re: RC battery charger - Not sure where to start *HELP*
I turned the multi-meter to DCV 20 and touched the black and red wires showing in the picture below on the left, the small white connector which has only 2 wires red/black and no reading showed. Then I touched the black and red wires that are on the other bigger connector that has multiple wires and some numbers showed up on the multi-meter. I tested those because it looked like they are the wires connected directly to the front screen and the small white connector with only 2 wires seems to be the LED light power source....

Re: RC battery charger - Not sure where to start *HELP*
yeah same unit. I take detailed pics from every angle so if my memory doesn't serve me, I reference the pics to make sure this is the unit I sent out.
I suspect it has something to do with the front too, because the small board with USB output works. I'll connect it to a power source and take a couple of pics...
the yellow thing is a mini helicopter charger, it charges fine through that USB...Last edited by gatewayhd2201; 11-08-2014, 05:12 PM.

Re: RC battery charger - Not sure where to start *HELP*
I can't find my multi-meter!!! AAHHHHH!!!! hahaha
I know I have it somewhere, so i'll report back very soon.
stj, that heat sink has some silicone and a white compound on the back so I think it's from that.
budm, the board seems to be mirrored near the output wires, white resistor, 2 caps, 1 copper wire coil thing, another big cap and a black resistor? the one numbered 3110-5260 what do you thin that is?

Re: RC battery charger - Not sure where to start *HELP*
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply.
Pictures from every angle attached. Let me know if you need more pictures of a specific component.
budm, this charger is freakin expensive so Im hoping the least they could do is add some safety net like a fuse or something....

RC battery charger - Not sure where to start *HELP*
Hi all,
Previously I managed to diagnose and fix a Gateway screen because of this forum and the good helpful people on here.
Now I'm faced with a new challenge and not sure where to start. Hoping I can find help again.
I have a Graupner SJ Polaron EX charger that is not working.
Back story: I bought the charger and tested it by connecting to 24v DC source (it works on 12v or 24v) it turned on and everything lit up, touch screen worked etc etc but I never tested it to charge a battery. Later on I sold it and shipped it out, the person...Last edited by gatewayhd2201; 11-06-2014, 10:21 PM.

Re: Gateway HD 2201 Monitor 2 Seconds to Black
Here's the result of all your help.... thank you all who replied
I had to switch the rubber legs that came with the kit I ordered with the original ones that came with the screen as the new ones are bigger and the screen would not fit if I kept them, but in the end I managed to make it work...
Cheers all...

Re: Gateway HD 2201 Monitor 2 Seconds to Black
Sounds good. Thanks
I got a reply from CCFL warehouse saying that they are not 100% sure if L03 would fit L06 model, it might fit but sometimes there would be a very small difference and it won't work. They said they have the CCFL tubes that match my model but did not provide a link so Im waiting for a reply now.
If the price difference is worth the work of removing the wires from the old lamps and soldering to the new ones, I might go with the tubes only. If the price is close to the assembly,...

Re: Gateway HD 2201 Monitor 2 Seconds to Black
Since now the mystery is solved. I have one more small question if anyone can help that would be great.
When I changed the caps the first time, I didn't realize there was one that is 470uF 25v and another that's 470uF 16v so I replaced them randomly and didn't know if I placed each one in the right place. Then I replaced the 470uF 16v with a 470uF 25v because I read that going higher in voltage doesn't matter but going lower does. I'm just a bit paranoid and would like to know where does the 16v cap go so I can put it...Last edited by gatewayhd2201; 02-21-2014, 12:59 AM.
