Are you looking for the plug on the bulb side or on the inverter side ?
Can you post some good pictures of both
and if you have the lcd panel number , that might also help

ALSO do yours show signs of discoloring or melting ??

to be honest I haven't checked the inverter side at all. the bulb pin was charred badly, I've cleaned it up with a brass wire brush. the rubber mount (on the bulb) did not like the arcing over time. I've tried cleaning with dental floss. arcing sound was there worked well for 10 minutes, then back where it was.
I suspect that the arc discharge eroded the rubber mount reducing the contact surface. I will try applying a mechanical pre-load to press it on the tube pin.
so annoying I can't test with the screen open

no discolouring, no melting, just charring. I'll take some picture next time I'll open it

if this doesn't work now I don't know if a new tube will sort it out or I'll need to replace the rubber socket as well.

Ok it was easy, the problem was not the lamp but the rubber socket. The contact was bad and the arcing made it worst over time (bigger hole for the pin). I did not have a soldering iron handy so I wrapped the pin in aluminum foil, now it works a joy. Solder blob would have been nicer though.

I also ended up wrapping one end of the tube in copper wire to widen it a little. That made perfect contact.

              the monitor is perfect

i attach a photo of the rubber support of the pin

                Hi,

Had exactly the same problem recently.
Managed to get a broken U2410f, the problem being that the screen would stay on for a few seconds and soon after would turn off. In order turn back on I'd have to disconnect it from the mains and reconnect but then again it would turn off after only a few seconds.

On closer inspection I found that the backlight was causing the problem.
I dissembled the entire unit and found that the cause of the issue was a charred CCFL tube + the plastic around the connector for the tube had melted, which seems to short the bulb out (of the electronics controlling its power supply).

I ordered two CCFL tubes from CCFL Warehouse in the US (I'm from the UK), fitted both new tubes (second one was to replace one bulb I accidentally broke on entering the unit).

The monitor is now working as normal, although there is a slight hum from the capacitors on the power board, simply due to age.

Replacing the CCFL's is the solution.

                Cheers.

                  Hi,
I too have had the same problem with the backlit of a DELL U2410f (the screen going black after 2s) but without this thread I would not have found it. There was only a tiny black trace near a CCFL tube connection. I manage to widen the hole over the conductive rubber connector, to get rid of possible burned material, I placed a small copper wire around the end of the CCFL tube to increase its diameter and that's it.
                  The monitor is working fine.
Thanks again to this useful forum.

What Size of CCFL tube did you order? thanks

I tried sending you a direct message but was unable to do so so I will post my question to you here. I noticed that you took the lcd screen completely off to get access to the tubes. My lcd screen is cracked and needs to be replaced. I already found a replacement screen. My question to you is do I have to completely disassemble the monitor to replace the lcd screen? Does removal and installation of screen require soldering? Can you refer me to any links or documentation that illustrates the procedure for accomplishing this? I am replacing screen with part number LM240WU4-SLB1. Any help will be immensely helpful. Thanks.

                        Hi,

I would need help how to get to the backlight/bulbs - how to remove the last metal cover. I removed already all electronics, but there must be trick how to remove that cover.

                          @retrology:

as far as I can/could see/sag, no soldering is needed, just screwing, and connecting connectors.
How to open the monitor you can find on youtube ...
