I think I finally found the issue, I had replaced the GPU core and tried to reflow the chipset but it didn't helped. Then I investigated and found the VCCIO power plane (PL800) that wasn't giving power when the EN signal was present... I replaced the mosfet and now it's working fine.
For the record when it was stuck on the Dell logo there was no VCCIO power... what a weird thing to do when a power plane is missing, my theory was that every voltage were fine since it was displaying something, I was wrong.
The mosfet to replace is a NB681AGD-Z, I just grabbed one from my Precision 7550...

UEFI Variables on Surface Pro 4+
Hi,
I have a dump of Surface Pro 4 bios and I would like to extract UEFI variables. Usually I'm using UEFITool to search the text of a bios option (for instance "Bios Lock", "OC Lock"...) to locate the "Setup" part, extract it and using the IFR Extractor tool.
But in case of the Surface Pro 4 and onwards (tried on SP5 dump as well) I'm not able to locate the "Setup" part, at least not one that can be extracted using IFR extractor. I would like to know if it's possible to extract a list of the UEFI variables along their adresses and parameters...

Dell Precision 7550 LA-J171P schematic or boardview
Hi, I would like a schematic or a boardview for Dell Precision 7550, I believe Precision 7750 and 7760 might have similar board as the 7550.
Thanks all

Re: Need bios Dell XPS 9500 LA-j191p
Thanks you, sadly it didn't worked, I'm ending up in the same stage with bootloop... either keyboard lit up then reboot or Dell logo then reboot, again and again :/
I also tried your bios on post #41 but I'm having the same issue...

Re: Need bios Dell XPS 9500 LA-j191p
Hi, sorry for the delay, the service tag is J8TKK63.
Edit : for further information the dumped bios sometime makes the laptop display the Dell logo but it doesn't go further...Last edited by TheQuentincc; 11-19-2023, 04:17 AM.

Dell XPS 9500 / Precision 5550
Hi, I dumped the full 32MB bios/EC chip, can anyone have a look and check if it's corrupted or not ? I believe something might be wrong with the EC firmware.
Thanks you all...

Re: Dell XPS 9500/Precision 5550 - random freeze and no post + display glitches
I already tried 2 other memory kits from other daily laptop ranging from 2666 to 2933MHz SPD.
I believe there is something wrong with the EC since the laptop isn't always giving a blinking error code when something is wrong at post.
For instance sometime I don't have an error code when it's failing to post (keyboard is lit, fan at 100% then shutdown) and I'm not even getting an error code when there is no ram installed.
And that's why I dumped the bios chip, to make sure the EC and...

Re: Dell XPS 9500/Precision 5550 - random freeze and no post + display glitches
I did not tried since I do not have such adapter but the laptop was unresponsive (no action when pressing the power button), so using an external display wouldn't change much I believe.
But a faulty GPU/VRAM issues is pretty unlikely as the system doesn't use it for video output (it's the Intel UHD doing the work) and it was disabled when it happened :/

Thanks you all

Dell XPS 9500/Precision 5550 - random freeze and no post + display glitches
Hi, I have a Dell XPS 9500 which works when it want. Specs : I7 10750H, GTX 1650Ti 4GB, 15.6" 1920x1200.
It can works fine for hours until the screen goes black or the image is fully frozen (laptop unresponsive) or the display is glitched.
Then another issue is sometime the laptop doesn't wanna boot or post at all, after a "clear cmos" (disconnecting main battery and pressing power button for some time) when I'm pressing the power button the keyboard lit up but sometime the laptop display the Dell logo, sometime the screen can just lit black, sometime it launch...

No Intel Management Engine (ME) version detected in bios
Hi, I have a few different motherboard from different vendor and generation (Z77, Z87 and X99) that are "missing" the Intel ME.
I successfully flashed the bios using an external programmer with the bios file directly downloaded from the manufacturer and verified the ME was present (in the file) with the "ME Analyser" python script.
Then after flashing and doing a full clear cmos and so on I still have the ME missing (detected as "N/A") with some functionnality (depending on the board) missing such as frequency reading/overclocking and so on.
I...

Re: Dell Precision 5530/XPS 9570 no reaction
Hi, how to check the firmware of the MEC5105 IC ? I think the issue come from this IC, it's available for like 5$ on AE however I don't know if it needs to be flashed before soldering it.Last edited by TheQuentincc; 02-06-2023, 04:27 AM.

Asrock Z87M OC Formula, need schematic or boardview
Hi, I have an Asrock Z87M OC Formula with a dead component I need to replace. I saw there is several schematic available for this board but I don't have the privilege to download them, can someone upload them here ?
Thanks you

Re: Dell Precision 5530/XPS 9570 no reaction
SIO the MEC5105/EC chip ? It's firmware is internal and very likely not flashable...
So I was able to measure 33.3kHz on the quartz, however I have nothing on the SPI CLK pin, I guess my PCH didn't liked having it's SI and CLK pin shorted together...

Re: Dell Precision 5530/XPS 9570 no reaction
Thanks for your reply.
Well I had my original corrupted bios which was trying to make the laptop "start" (power led button on for 2sec then off), I tried 2 others bios then it wasn't trying (no led reaction), I then flashed the original bios and it did not goes back to the original behavior of the board... That's when I tried to diagnose the board.
Also, the 1.8v power plane at 2.05v doesn't seems wrong to you ? it only happen when the PCH is powered/connected by this 1.8v power plane... I'm gonna check on my scope...

Re: Dell Precision 5530/XPS 9570 no reaction
I was looking at the PCH datasheet and it seems like ME_SUS_PWR_ACK_R and SUSACK needs to be below 0.25* "1.8v power plane" = 0.25*2.08 = 0.52V to be considered in a low state. So I believe my boards logic is fine but there is something wrong with the 1.8v regulation ONLY when the +1.8V_PCH is connected to the VRM.
Any idea ?
