I have HP LP3065c 30" monitor, where suddenly the other day, a top part of the screen has a dark shadow, please see attached (image shows monitor turned on, with solid white background). Monitor is over 5 years old. Out of warranty. Could this be fixed, is it worth fixing? Thanks.

Re: HP LP3065c dark shadow
It looks like a bulb is out - unusual for it to stay on at all I have assumed it is not led. Perhaps first thing to try woul be open it up an swap the lamp cables over if that is
possible

Re: HP LP3065c dark shadow
Also, I've recently noticed, if I turn the monitor on, there's no dark shadow, after 2 seconds it appears on the top part of the screen. If I turn if off and on again same thing happens, dark shadow comes on after 2 seconds.
Thanks! I'm not sure if it's possible to swap lamp cables. I took pictures the best I could. Please advise if anything else I should check?

Re: HP LP3065c dark shadow
Ok Then try unplugging one bulb at a time - unlikely that it will all stay on but you might discover if it is one bulb or more that is the problem.
Do you have any spare bulbs on anything you could substitute
Could you make up a tester bulb

Re: HP LP3065c dark shadow
Hi, you've waited much time! It sounds like a 2 sec. to black sympthom so it can be some on the circuit for the upper part of the screen (lamps only) or more probably a faulty lamp that unlike most other cases it let the bottom part to stay on, this is quite obvious because we can see from the photo that there are 2 big chips on inverter so i think 2 separate feedback circuits, now you can post here the marking of those chips (bigger chips on photo 5) so we can maybe tell you how to disable the protection and see if the lamps stands on, after it we can also experiment if the lamp can be salvaged fro some time. Bye..
P.S.: you asked "is it worth fixing?", think that i was driving crazy for a 15", yes it is worth..Last edited by Davi.p; 01-30-2014, 08:41 PM.

Re: HP LP3065c dark shadow
i assume that the upper side of monitor is the upper side in photo 5.. ?
after, to answer to your question, yes changing a lamp can be a very difficult task.. this is why i suggested to trim the prot. and retard the lamp change, but i think i will need the schematic or at least further pictures of the inv. board.

Re: HP LP3065c dark shadow
Davi, thanks for your help!
I gave the monitor to tv/monitor repair guy, who told me we have to change power supply (PSU type/no.: Liteon PA-3171-2-LF Rev:B) He also said part wasn't available from his suppliers.
I really would like to fix this monitor, any suggestions where to get he Power Supply?
