Samsung p2770hd assitance. Name that missing part?

    First off...
First post here. Yay Yay hooray and all that. And sorry about it being a question.

So I usually do bad cap replacements. And while still a beginner, I am not horrible at it. But I am more than a little out of depth on this monitor, it not being a cap problem.

I have a Samsung P2770HD I am fixing up, It is a repair of a badly done repair by someone unknown. I fixed up the caps, and got power working again. But I got white screen, looked that up and got pointed to the problem which is on the lcd board. Pretty noticeable as well, I should have spotted it earlier.

I have read through other white screen posts but am not sure if the parts they list are the one that I need, and since mine is missing completely I can't do a direct compare and don't want to blow the rest of the board accidentally.

The F1 thingy is completely missing and if I could get one of you nice folks to help me identify what I need to install there I would be much obliged (and if I can/should even attempt the repair?). I have attached a picture that I hope is quality enough to see by.

Again, noob here, and while I can look up most information to understand what is being said and described (or pretend to at least). I have to first know what I am looking for.

That is the fuse for the T-CON board, when T-CON is dead, you will just get the glowing screen. With the monitor unlplug and the board bolted back down, use an Ohm meter to check the resistance on each pad of the fuse and chassis and ground to see if it shows really low resistance, basically we are trying to find out if the fuse is blown due to short or just by the power surge.

So whether I have done my tests right or not, these are my findings. I am using a DT830B multimeter as an fyi.

The pad furthest from F1 gave no readings on my multimeter either on 20k-ohms or diode test settings.

The pad closest to F1 gave a couple, and I am not sure which is needed if any are even right. Reading up on my multimeter and proper usage. On the diode test setting with negative on pad and positive to ground I got a reading of 565. On the 20k-ohm test, I got 7.2 with negative on pad and positive to ground, and 6.5 Positive on pad and negative to ground.

Also, how important is it to use the exact same part (or values of the part) that's missing? Is there give in the values its rated for like with capacitors?

              I assume its M270H1-L01-X+C.

I only really have the group of lettering above the serial code to go off of.

Is this 27" monitor/ If it is it will proably draw 2~3A. Yout meter should have DC Amp function, set the knob to 10A, Black probe stays in the 'COM', Red probe to the '10A DC' jack.
Have the monitor all hook back up, turn it on with it hooked up to running PC, then put the meter probes on each pads where the fuse used to be (Color of the probes do not matter), you then should see the DC current draw, just make sure not to slip the probes!!!. Tell us what you read. Make sure to put the red probe back into the Vma jack when you are done.

Thanks for the info. After preforming the procedure as listed. I got a result of .77 and the tv white screen vanished while the multimeter was connected.

That is less than 1A. When you attach the meter to the board, the T-CON board should come alive and you should be able to see the PC desk top screen, if not, the T-CON is dead.

it comes alive. So then does it matter what 1a fuse I use? and any recommendations online since I don't think those are carried at your local radio shack XD

The current draw will change, depend on the contrast adjustment. I would use 2A fuse, I use through hole PICOII fuse. Or you can try locating surface mounted fuse.
I am not sure the actual dimensions of the old fuse are.

I think I see the number 3 in the picture which suggests the original was a 3A fuse.

OK, I think I can say that this screen is all FIXED. I have it back together and in one piece operating like a champ. I would have added an edit to the first post and title saying thread is fixed, but cannot figure out how to.

Thanks to Budm for all the assistance and walking me through the diagnostics. As well as finding that dang user manual for my multimeter.

2amps seems to be doing it for the fuse. If it gives me trouble down the road I can give 3 amps a shot.

Little suprised that whoever removed the fuse the first time around didn't replace it. They would have had a great working monitor. Hopefully, there won't be any more problems.
