    Seanix monitor

    I just replaced all the caps in a Seanix 700P monitor but still have graphics corruption that is for lack of a better word "dancing".

    Any chance someone has seen this before so I would know what to try next?

    Pic is attached but I can also show a short video capture if someone needs to see one and there is a way to show it without breaking forum rules.

    Check the voltage regulators on the main board. See my sig file below for instructions.

    If you are new to this forum, we can help a lot more if you please post clear focused pictures (max resolution 2000x2000 and 2MB) of your boards using the manage attachments button so they are hosted here. Information and picture clarity compositions should look like this post.

    We respectfully ask that you make some time and effort to read some of the guides available for basic troubleshooting. After you have read through them, then ask clarification questions or report your findings.

      Re: Seanix monitor

      will do and thank you. will post results.

      Taken when monitor in standby (power light is amber):

      FS8860 -> Line one
      33CJ0093 -> Line two
      pin 1 = 0.000
      pin 2 = 3.289
      pin 3 = 5.11

      84-18 -> Line one
      0417A -> Line two
      pin 1 = 0.000
      pin 2 = 1.792
      pin 3 = 5.11

      Taken when monitor in normal use (power light is green):

      FS8860 -> Line one
      33CJ0093 -> Line two
      pin 1 = 0.000
      pin 2 = 3.199
      pin 3 = 5.04

      84-18 -> Line one
      0417A -> Line two
      pin 1 = 0.000
      pin 2 = 1.740
      pin 3 = 5.04

      The readings are taken with the monitor powered on and connected to the pc, but with the lcd panel not connected as the boards can't be reached with the panel plugged into everything. Power light is green.

          Look up the data sheets and tell us what they say the voltage out should be.
          Post the data sheets save us looking them up.

            Haven't had any luck finding the data sheets.

            Is there a site that has a lot of them? Can't see any manufacturer name on the chips and google doesn't seem to be my friend this time.

            ok I may have found the first one finally:

            http://www.datasheetarchive.com/FS88...datasheet.html

            if I'm reading it right output for this one should be 3.3v

                Ah thank you I never would have known that number was the same one

                Looks like the output for the second one should be 1.8V

                  1) The "-18" tells you the output should be 1.8.

                  2) (1.8-1.74)/1.8 = 3.33% out of tolerance.

                  3) Page 3 of the datasheet that selldoor linked says 1.78 to 1.82 is the range with 1.80 being typical.

                  4) You might also want to check the cap that is on the output pin (pin 2) to see if it is bad or pulling down the voltage a bit.

                  5) Now you decide if 33CJ0093 is good or bad.

                    Re: Seanix monitor

                    Well going by the numbers the 33CJ0093 would be 3% out as well.

                    (3.3-3.199)/3/3 = 3.06% out of tolerance.

                    I'll have to wait until I get an ESR meter to check the cap, but I think this one may just be left for parts in case I get another similar one. I get the monitors for free so don't want to spend a whole lot on parts and shipping etc just to find it still has a problem

                    In any event thank you guys very much for all the info, I made a lot of notes and saved the spec sheets as well. I appreciate you all taking the time to help me learn more about this. I always enjoy learning more.

                      I get my voltage regulators off ebay. Usually 5 or 10 for $1 + free shipping.

                      An example,

                      http://www.ebay.com/itm/221105133435

                      edit: I got a whole variety and some sellers are flexibile in that they will send out a "mix" for the same price of $1 + free shipping.

                        Well that's a great deal thanks for the info. What the heck was I looking at where they ranged in price from about $9 each up to $16 each....?? Clearly I must have been looking at the wrong thing.

                        Any chance you could recommend an equivalent replacement for the ones I listed?

                              The pics are better than 90% of the usual out of focus stuff that we get.

                              http://www.ebay.ca/itm/221105133435

                              I having a hard time find the 84-18 TO-252 replacement on ebay. Digikey has it

                              http://www.digikey.com/product-detai...ICT-ND/1301472

                              The difficult part is the 5A output. Most of the 1117-18s on ebay are all SO-223 and 1A output.

                                  Thank you retiredcaps, I peeked on Mouser with the number you provided since I usually deal with them for my caps, and they don't stock them they would have to order and I don't think I quite need their minimum order of 1620 of them lol

                                  I appreciate all your efforts in trying to track it down.

                                  I did double check them last night but I will re-check again now and use a second meter to compare as well.

                                      It's unlikely any of these regulators are 5A - with the input of 5v, to get 1.8v at 5A it would dissipate 3.2 watts * 5A = 15 watts.

                                      That's impossible. At best on that PCB I see about 4 watts of dissipated power, so any 1.5-2A regulator would probably work.

                                      For the 3.3v, it has quite a bit of solder there as heatsink so that's probably 1A+ and actually uses it. A random datasheet for FS8860 says 1A.

                                      Pay attention to this particular one because the pin order is different than the one on most common regulators.
                                      Yours appears to be 1. GND 2. OUT 3. IN with the TAB output

                                      Most regulators are 1. IN 2. GND 3. OUT with the TAB ground.

                                      I didn't compare the pinout of the 1.8v one with other regulators of the same format so this one could also be just as quirky.

                                      PS. See if ca.newark.com can be of help. I don't know if the shipping charges are convenient for you, I think someone on this forum complained about that but I'm not sure.

                                          Normally, I never post repairs this quick after I do them, because… I am usually very slow. But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though. I picked it up last November from someone on my local Craigslist. It wasn’t very close to where I live, but was close to a family friend that I had to go visit anyways. So after watching the posting on Craigslist for a few weeks and seeing it getting...

                                          The monitor will randomly blackout and display no signal and will recover again.

                                          Good evening, gentlemen.

                                          I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.

                                          To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.

                                          Looking through my repair pictures and notes, it's been a long time since I posted anything in the LCD monitors section. So here goes that.

                                          I'm dedicating this thread to one of the very first LCD monitors I repaired (if not the first one), which was more than 10 years ago now. The monitor is a Wise Wing, model F199. It's a 19” CFL-backlit LCD. I got it for free off of Craigslist in 2009 from a guy, who said he bought it for cheap from Wallmart and the monitor worked only for a little less than 2 years before quitting.

                                          When I saw the Craigslist post, I wasn't...

                                          4 weeks ago i launched Metro Exodus Enhanced and during cinematic advertisement part ( 30 fps ), pc just shutdown.
                                          Also monitor flickered with NO SIGNAL 10 seconds after shutdown. So only monitor and pc was affected.

                                          Next i pressed only power button, rebooted again and its fine again. Happened once and i cant reproduce.
