Did the DCV 20 test on the 450v Cap mean its still good? (starting with a lil charge and going to nothing?)

Edit: Rest of my questions were just answered above as i posted.. thx

Selldoor> not a single reading on those (im assuming by mains you mean 450v cap)

Note: im still working with JUST the power board, all ribbons still apart..

NO...he means the mains socket where the AC comes in

It is not really a valid test so doesnt mean its good or bad.

Yes first four from mains socket to bridge
last two from bridge to Main/Big cap (450v)

When you say not a single reading do you mean the meter stays on "1"
or the meter goes to 0.00

Yes I know you are just on the power board - that is ok.

Are you up for testing for a mains voltage (400vdc perhaps) at the big cap?
If you have any sort of RCD socket (Residual-current device) then use that.

Again just try it with only the power supply - nothing connected to it.
Make it a short test and unplug straight after but remember not to touch the board for some time after.
If so, meter on 1000vDC Red probe to positive pin and black probe to
negative pin of the Big cap.

Re: Samsung 245bw No Power No LED

              ahh oops, thanks..

Mains socket is labeled N and L

              Black on N, Red on 2 - 1L
Black on N, Red on 3 - Starts high and very very quckly drops to 001
              Black on L, Red on 2 - 1L
              Black on L, Red on 3 - 1L

              Bridge-Cap Tests - 1L

No reading meaning 1L (sorry for using two things to describe the same)

1000 DCV -- Black on Neg, Red on Pos - Plugged in, Power Switch On - Started higher (not sure exactly where) dropped to 168, 2nd try again just 168

Well that is great - can barely believe it Ive just typed in that there doesnt seem to be any connection between mains and big cap but
                  clearly there is.
Well done - tests should get easier from now on. perhaps someone will take over as I am off to bed.

Just check that your probes are plugged firmly into the meter and that the wires to the probes are ok - I used to have one of those and the wire kept pullng off the pin inside the handle.

Ok - nobody playing? Next is still no luck with camera? how about a scanner?

Meter on Ohms - Power off- remember the arrow pointing to the bridge? , well follow that and just past the bridge you might find a little red rectangular box.
If you do it is a fuse, I think what does it say on it?
find its pins on the bottom of the board and test it.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                                            Assuming...

                                            Hi all!

I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

                                            Hi all,

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!

I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

A few weeks ago I was using the laptop (on battery power) for a Zoom meeting. The battery was running very low (long meeting) but I wasn't worried about...

Hi everyone and thanks in advance for any help I might get here

My Samsung TV is about 4 years old. The exact model number is UE75MU7009TXZG.
About half a year ago I started seeing occasional green frames pop up while watching movies. I mean literally green frames. Not the image turning green, but the entire screen turning green for a split second. This happened maybe once or twice during a 2 hour movie. So no big deal, but clearly something was not quite right.

Since a few days, the TV won't turn...

Samsung TV won't turn on ... keeps cycling the power relay on & off

                                            Hi All,
First time posting here ... my name is Kevin but my friends call me Journey.
I have a Samsung 75" LCD model UN75RU8000FXZA that I don't remember the original fault other than it wouldn't power up anymore.
After it sat for many month's I decide to look at it again. The motherboard seemed to have power regulation issues. After much fussing I decided to just get a new MB.
It came a few days ago and I installed it now just cycles the power relay on and off ... when on the backlights light up and then dim and then relay kicks off and the whole things starts again....
