Backlight wont come on at all

Hi, I have a Staples 19" sp9106 LCD. Backlights went out completely, but LCD still shows a picture (while very hard to see.) Power light is steady. Recapped 3 blown CapXon KF with Panasonic FM's with same rating. This didn't help at all...

There is no visual indication on either the power or logic boards of any problem. The only thing I can guess with totally dead lights is a blown fuse but I don't see one.

This thread already discusses this monitor and has pictures of the boards:

    Thanks again.

Do you have pictures of your own? Often, the boards are slightly different revisions, which makes troubleshooting a bit iffy. Please upload your own pictures, using the Attach Files function built in to this forum, to upload images no more than 3000x3000 in size.
    Thank you!

Yes, it is cumbersome jumping between threads trying to read someone else's photo because the flash they used is obscurring a lot of info. However, there might be a surface mount fuse marked "s" on the bottom of the board near the power connector. If yes, check it for continuity.

Yup, fuse was blown... I soldered a jumper wire to test and the monitor comes on now. Where can I get a replacement fuse for this?

These seem to be common places for delivery to the USA

          http://www.digikey.com/
          http://uk.mouser.com/

Be careful as the fuse blew for a reason. Bear that in mind and order a couple of fuses just in case there is more wrong. Some would even do further test before replacing the fuse to reduce the risk of more damage.
Fixed so far : 1 Home cinema system, 16 LCD Monitors, 4 LCD TV's

It would seem to me that the blown caps were the reason, bad caps will draw more power. It's easy to test, though.

I've never seen anyone mention newark.com or mcmelectronics.com on this site, they also carry a great stock but shipping is a killer when you don't make a large order.

It would be nice if there were still local electronics supply houses around, but they've seemed to have gone extinct.

            Thanks again.

digikey.com has no minimum order and they have an option for shipping by USPS first class mail. It's usually about $2.50 shipping and it only takes about 2 - 3 days.

Most users on this site will recommend replacing ALL of the electrolytics on the board. With three of them bad, the others are more than likely on their way since they are probably the same brand, series, and age and have been subjected to the same conditions. The difference in replacing 3 of them versus replacing all of them is usually about $2 - $4. Just know that you may be opening the monitor back up some time in the near future to replace more of them.

There are only 3 on the board. It has an external power brick to bring it down to 12VDC at input.

You should check the DC output of the AC adapter to make sure it is putting out regulated 12vdc, may be the output was too high and caused the fuse to blow, or it may have high AC ripple due to bad caps in side the adapter itself.

this tv is throwing me for a loop. do samsung tvs no longer have the backlight self test feature built into the power supply?
i tested the backlight with my LED tester and it lights up both strips. one of them reads 100v and the other reads 63.7v.
unplugged mainboard from power supply but left backlight plugged in, and then plugged psu wall power in. expected to see backlights light up but see nothing.
according to how ive diagnosed in the past, this would almost always be a bad power supply. replacement power supply was cheap like 20$ from ebay. but still i get not even...

Gigabyte Aero 15 GA-RP65W no backlight, blown MOSFET

The hinge broke on this laptop and caused damage to the LCD cable. Replacement screen and cable produced no backlight. Upon board inspection discovered blown MOSFET as shown in pic.

The MOSFET and spec is P6402FMG/SOT23/950pF/64m https://datasheet4u.com/datasheet-pd...php?id=1093860

Guide me through repairing a Dell p2210f LCD ccfl backlight monitor
                      by DanPoka
I bought this p2210f dell monitor to fix. Schematic is the same as p2210.
Behaviour is that monitors comes on but then backlight switches off almost instantly. If I look with flashlight I can still find the "No signal message". So definitely a backlight issue. Trying to advance the issue I proved that the protection circuit is switching off the backlight by shorting out C3 and resistor to disable the INL chip then re enable by removing the short.
This is where it gets interesting. When I disassembled the monitor to solder leads on c3 capacitor I noticed the backlight flickered...

                      Hello all,

Am trying to figure out this backlight issue with this A1990 Macbook Pro.

                      Tests performed:

There is no backlight even with a good screen.
Backlight IC is receiving the correct support voltages.
                      Fuse F8400 ok
                      Current sense resistor R8400 ok
Backlight IC is receiving 3.3V on enable pin.
Backlight IC receiving voltage from PPBUS_G3H, aprox 12.5V.
Backlight IC receiving 5V from PP5V_G3S
Backlight IC BKLT_SCL and BKLT_SDA both measure 0.545V diode mode to ground
                      I2C_BKLT_SCL and I2C_BKLT_SDA both measure...

iPad Pro 12.9 5th Gen Backlight Issue
                      by cheebster
Hello, got an iPad Pro A2378 12.9 5th gen with no backlight. Got another test unit without screen, tested the screen, still no backlight with the test unit.
Figured out the backlight on the screen was bad, ordred a new backlight from mobilesentrix, *carefully replaced it* without damaging the lcd, oh well.
Final result, issue is still there, the screen has no back lights. So i'm back to square one, with 3 hours less and 100$ out, issue still on the screen.
The panel is still ok, i can see the apple in the middle of the screen when it kicks in, just no backlight.
                      Anyone...
