i am replacing ccfls on my viewsonic VX2235wm and i'm wondering if there are other options to using shrinktube on the resoldered ends. what size is this tube - is 2:1 5/64 (.078) small enough? the boots have split when sliding them back from the ccfl, so they dont separate the ends as well as they once did. seems hot glue would get hot and runny again. tape seems too thick to slide into the boot. any suggestions appreciated - thanks.
replacing ccfls - shrinktube critical?

Silicon adhesive; there is even a formulation designed for electrical insulation.

Re: replacing ccfls - shrinktube critical?
thanks bill - reading google links got me to rtv red (safe for automotive sensors, but still has acetic acid) and Star Brite Liquid Electrical Tape @ home depot as most easily available options. nothing @ ratshak. others i read about that have no acid or other corrosive ingredient cost 30 bux + for a few ounces. acetic acid is how big an issue here? anyone care to save me from another hour of reading and suggest any products? thanksComment

RTV6700 Series (RTV6702, RTV6703, RTV6708)
or: RTV162
GE is not the only brand those are sold under.
If the RTV number is the same then it's the same stuff no matter the brand.

by iMuhtasebthis board suffered from a bad trackpad and bad keyboard after liquid damage; board was turning on no issues..
we've replaced the bad trackpad and bad keyboard no issues whatsoever.. during 2nd final checkup we booted to an external macOS and there started the critical update issue; it boots externally but to the internal SSD it shows critical update; tried Wi-Fi tried Ethernet tried Hotspot same thing..
One weird symptom is it takes too long to power on and show the Apple logo for some reason..

by ReintarFirst of all, I'd like to mention that I'm a novice when it comes to laptop repair, although I do have some experience with soldering.
One day, my laptop experienced a severe stutter, and after rebooting, it failed to boot into Windows. I decided to disassemble it and found that the PL900 component was blown. Later, I came across a post (https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...error%E2%80%99) with the same problem, where...08-30-2024, 06:13 AM -
by m1ch43lzmHi, i have this RadioShack IR thermometer Cat. No 22-170 which takes 2xAAA batteriss, I've tried with NiMH AAA rechargeables but it complains about low voltage, it flashes an "empty" battery and doesn't measure anything, even with freshly charged 2xAAA NiMH, so i have to "borrow" the batteries from my multimeter when i want to use it
I'm thinking abour replacing the 2xAAA batteries with a small LiPo battery that fits inside that space, but the voltage would be too high (4.2v)
I'm open to suggestions on whether i should use an LDO or another type of voltage... -

So is there something special needed when replacing audio ic? -
by bulkchart32nichiconare whatβ i used because i had heard the voltage doesn't matter as long as it is more than the original cap. i'm now reading that high voltage may make the cap's esr too high. is this a good cap for replacing those oem ones?
