Re: Dell 2007WFP Constant On/Off
This was EXACTLY my problem. My 2.7k resistor was actually showing wandering resistance when measured - it kept changing!
I unsoldered it and tore the pad. I then traced the pcb traces and connected the resistor (only 2.2k) to the transistor and IC directly for better mechanical strength.
I tore off some of the excess heat sink tape between the power supply and chassis to add back in some thermal mass for those resistors to replace the removed glue.
So far, so good. I would have NEVER found that failed resistor. Thank you, everyone!

Re: Dell 2007WFP Constant On/Off
I fixed my 2007 WFP monitor by replacing the 2nd from the top resistor under the white silicon. It was a 10K resistor (01C) that was blown. Anyone having problems with this monitor should check all resistors and caps under the white silicon. Any one of them could be bad.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2007WFP Constant On/Off
My dell works again!! Removed that broken smd resistor. Didn’t have 2,7k resistor so now there is 1.2k and 1.5k trough hole resistors in series.
Used some hot glue to secure those resistors in place.Leave a comment:

My monitor is having the same issue. while trying to replace chip resistor I messed up the board. Can I just remove the board all together from monitor as I dont use USB port anyways?.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2007WFP Constant On/Off
I've the same issue one, and fixed by myself.
1. I've remove all glue circled in the picture.
2. replace the chip resister code 272 (2.7K, 0603, arrow pointed).
hope this reply could help.
ps. original pictures are from this thread => https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=10658
So, thanks guys!

Re: Dell 2007WFP Constant On/Off
Thanks.
It worked for me as well it seems.
I didn't have an SMD resistor so i kludged a normal 1/4 watt trough hole instead then fixed it with hot snort.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2007WFP Constant On/Off
Hi, I have the same problem. I scraped off the white glue, and when I tested the 272 resistor with my multimeter, it either fails to get a reading, or shows about 16K I don't have a soldering iron at my house so I can't really take it off, and it is super small so I'm not sure if I could even put it back on.
Do I need to replace the resistor?Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2007WFP Constant On/Off
I removed it from board and it tests 2.65K so I don't think it is the problem. GrrrrrrLast edited by Lonewolfee1; 02-19-2018, 11:36 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2007WFP Constant On/Off
Hi Guys. Thanks. I do have all the tools as I replace caps alot on monitors. I just have never replaced a chip resistor. Watched some videos on youtube and it looks easy enough.
I do have another question though. On one of the 272 resistors I am only getting a reading of 1.97K or so, I assume that this is out of range and still faulty?Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2007WFP Constant On/Off
Make a blob of solder over all the resistor.
If you don't have flux it's time to have some. It will last for lifetime.Last edited by Dumah Brazorf; 02-18-2018, 05:52 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2007WFP Constant On/Off
What kind of tools do you have for soldering works? If you do have have to the tools then find repair shop that do component level repair to have them remove and install the new resistor.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2007WFP Constant On/Off
Hi Guys. I have 2 wfpb monitors like this. Just pulled them apart and yes the chip resistors are bad. My question is this: Can someone post pictures of how they fixed it? I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get the chip resistor off the board. Any help would be appreciated.Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2007WFP Constant On/Off
Hi guise, I wanted to thank you, my monitor had the same problem it would turn on and off.
It ended up being the 2700 ohm resistor. Just for clarity this is the last resister in the row under the white goop.
I did have a bit of frustration because I didn’t realize that there were two pages to the Thread, so I thought the fix to the problem was reflowing the section of the power supply board on the first page.
I found out this didn’t solve the problem after I reflowed my board.
There are a quite a bit of people on the forum who have the same problem but never found this solution.
With all that I would have never found the problem without your help.
HOW DID YOU FIND THE PROBLEM IN THE FIRST PLACE?
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO CET SCHEMATICS OF THE MONITOR?
Thanks TonyLeave a comment:

Re: Dell 2007WFP Constant On/Off
I replaced the resistor mentioned by POM_MJ, and my monitor works perfectly now! I used a 2.7k 5% 1/4W through hole resistor as I didn't have the SMD replacement. Works great!Leave a comment:

Re: Dell 2007WFP Constant On/Off
Thanks POM_MJ, replacing the 272 603 resistor solved the power cycling on my 2007WFP. I was a little worried when I checked the Caps an couldn't find one that was bad that she was headed for the grave yard, but then I found your post!
Thanks Again!Leave a comment:

by BowlineMy question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?
Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?
My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.

by master3112I would like to share my experience about charging issues with Dell power supplies with the tech community. I am working on a Dell Inspiron 5590, Mainboard 18778-1 with charging problems. The device can be switched on and works so far, only the message appears at startup:
Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and Type cannot be determined. The battery may not change. The System will adjust the performace to match the power available.
The power supply unit is not recognized in the Bios and the charging process is set to "idle". I use original Dell battery, type...-

by diamonI have a Dell Latitude 5530 with a damaged RJ45 network connector. See the attached pictures.
Have already searched on Farnell / Aliexpress / Ebay and had contact with several suppliers on Aliexpress and Ebay, but they cannot deliver this connector.
Is there someone inside the EU, who has these connector(s) or perhaps defective motherboard(s) for these laptop models I have mentioned in the topic title.

by lalle-Hello!
I have a problem with a Dell G5 SE 5505 laptop that I hope someone can give me a few pointers on.
[OK, it's not really a laptop, I'm running the motherboard on my desktop with only cooling, RAM and an M2 drive attached.]
I had some performance issues, so I decided to update my BIOS from 1.7.0 to the latest version, 1.20.0.
The computer restarted and the update dit not want to continue without a battery connected, even though I used dell's method of bypassing this requirement.
I tried updating to a custom BIOS from Reddit user Satori_Nori https://www... -
by federalhouseHi everyone,
I'm in need of assistance with a Dell Precision 5820 Tower. The BIOS is locked with "Dell Security Manager," preventing access to the HDD-1 hard drive.
**Background:**
I recently purchased this Dell Precision 5820 Tower from a recycler who salvages equipment from abandoned office spaces. The computer was left behind by its previous owner and was password locked. Given that it can run Windows 11, I saw this as an opportunity to upgrade my setup.
