**Need Help Unlocking BIOS and Hard Drive on Dell Precision 5820 Tower**

Hi everyone,

I'm in need of assistance with a Dell Precision 5820 Tower. The BIOS is locked with "Dell Security Manager," preventing access to the HDD-1 hard drive.


**Background:**

I recently purchased this Dell Precision 5820 Tower from a recycler who salvages equipment from abandoned office spaces. The computer was left behind by its previous owner and was password locked. Given that it can run Windows 11, I saw this as an opportunity to upgrade my setup.


**What I've Tried So Far:**


1. I accessed the basic BIOS but can't get past the "Dell Security Manager" password protection.

2. I attempted a BIOS clear jumper reset and removed the CMOS battery.

3. I successfully loaded Windows 11 Pro, and the computer runs from the boot drive (C, but I cannot access the internal hard drive (HDD-1), although utility software like Hiren's BootCD indicates the drive is working.

4. On boot, the "Dell Security Manager" screen appears. Hitting "Enter" three times allows the system to boot to Windows, but only from the C: drive.


**Challenges:**


I believe Dell support will not help for the following reasons:

1. The PC is out of warranty.

2. I cannot provide proof of legal ownership transfer as the original business owner is unknown, although the PC is obviously not stolen.

(Note: The hard drive number might be #***ZN14E08M-6FF1 or #***ZN14EO8M-6FF1 – I can't tell if it's a zero or a capital 'O.')


Any guidance or suggestions on how to unlock the BIOS and access the hard drive would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!

Unfortunately, I've not had any luck using this generator or others I've found. Here are the details of my situation:


**Current Status:**

1. **Admin Password**: NOT SET
2. **System Password**: NOT SET
3. **Internal HDD-1 Password**: HAS UNKNOWN PASSWORD

I'm trying to unlock the "Internal HDD-1 Password" to use a second hard drive in the machine.

**Challenges:**

As I'm not very sophisticated with this stuff, I might be doing something wrong or missing a step in the unlocking process. Here's what I've done so far:

1. The only "Password Release Code" or "System Code" I see is on the "Dell Security Manager" screen: "#***ZN14E08M-6FFI".
2. The BIOS key generating site wouldn't accept the entire code, so I shortened it to "N14E08M-6FFI".
3. Using this shortened code, the site generated a BIOS unlocking code, which I then entered into the "Dell Security Manager" screen. Unfortunately, the unlocking code was rejected.

**Request for Help:**

Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong? Is there a different approach or step I'm missing? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
