Unfortunately I've got no idea how to determine resistor wattage based on size. It's approx 4mm x 10mm, though. Googling "4x10mm resistor" has come up with a bunch of hits suggesting 1 watt.
The silver line of solder I think you're referring to - the goop that used to
hold down the original capacitor? I'm not seeing any lines of solder.

But today, I’m making an exception here. Why? No idea. Perhaps only because the repair details are still “fresh” in my head… which is ironic, given this is a 16 year old monitor that hardly anyone will care about today. It is new to me, though.
