    Replace main relay in Amp

Hi, I have an unknown brand amp that when i first power on the main relay keeps clicking for about a minute or so afterwards. I've checked all solder points and everything seems to be in order so i'm left with the relay itself.

I'd like to replace it but the relay in question is no longer in production. Can someone suggest a replacement for an OMI-SS-212DM? I'd prefer to purchase it from an irish or uk seller if possible

    Thanks in advance

Re: Replace main relay in Amp

It sound more likely that the supply voltage for the relay is low causing the relay to droping out. or maybe a low standby voltage causing the drive to turn on and off

Re: Replace main relay in Amp

sounds like a bad relay driver to me . or bad timing cap if it has one . or possibly ac riding on the dc supply .
need to see good pics and schematic to proceed further .

Perhaps this is the same relay https://wellgainelectronics.com/pcb-...-ss-212dm.html

Re: Replace main relay in Amp

I'll post some pics of the front/back of the board tomorrow. The relay only acts funny for about 10-30 seconds after powering on the amp then it works perfectly fine until the power is switched off and back on again.

Re: Replace main relay in Amp

I've attached some pictures of the board. I tested the 3 diodes close to the relay in diode mode and the results show

            1: .527 leads reversed 0
            2: .527 leads reversed 0
            3: .140 leads reversed .140

Could a bad diode be the cause of my problem?

Either the relay contacts are going bad or the voltage that is on the coil is fluctuating at start up. Once you find out what the voltage is doing on the coil of the relay is doing at start up you will know which one to investigate.

                That is speakers protection relay.
The two caps (220uF/25v, 47uF/25v) and and the 3 transistors and diodes right below the relay as shown in your pictures are probably for the DC detection/relay drive circuit.
So you the circuit may have detect DC at the output of the amplifier or there is bad parts such as those two caps are bad.
Make and model of the unit?

monitor the dc voltages where the emitter resistors join together whilst relay is playing up .
emitter resistors are the big white ones next to the output transistors .

On budm's advice i tested the 2 diodes and 3 transistors near the relay. I discovered that the 47uF/25v capacitor was showing no value in either direction when i tested it with my esr meter. I replaced that diode and now the relay is switching perfectly without any issue

might have been the timing cap .. hard to say without diagram ..
                      well done fixing it ..

So the 47uF/25V is a capacitor not a diode. A esr meter is for capacitors.

I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection...

Yesterday I successfully repaired a Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP that had inadvertently been used as a surge suppressor at our transmitter site. It has already been replaced with an updated one but it's coming home with me now instead of being e-cycled. To be specific, this is the MA model that has the blue backlit display and has been discontinued, although this design may have been used in many UPS units including the smaller Middle Atlantic ones in this series.

Here's what happened: We experienced a brownout/surge at the site, which damaged the UPS and took our broadcasting...

Help Needed: Samsung UE55MU8000 Dead - Possible Main Board Issue
                                  by Asraf Atb
                                  Hi everyone,

Im looking for some advice regarding my Samsung UE55MU8000 TV with main board model BN94-11606C. The TV suddenly stopped turning on and now shows no signs of life at all not even the standby light at the bottom.

Initially, I suspected an issue with the PSU, so I took it to a repair center. They tested it and confirmed that the PSU works perfectly, even on other TVs. Based on that, I started investigating the main board.

I disconnected the main board from the PSU, and the backlight turned on, which seems to confirm the main board is the issue....

                                  Hoping someone here could possibly help. I have a few questions in regards to compatibility with main boards. But I'll give a quick short run down on what's going on first;

I have Samsung Smart TV UA65MU6100WXXY version DA01

Now years ago it started intermittently playing up after a lighting strike. Lighting hit the block of units i was living in at the time. Ever since that night the TV started having a mind of its own, It would randomly turn itself off or on, and all inputs stopped responding like HDMI, aerial, but USB still worked. Anyway, over the next few months...

Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
