    How does these transformers work?

I'm trying to repair my ATX PSU and I'm sort of trying to follow the flow of current to see where it goes wrong. I was doing fine until came across with two transformers. I'm pretty sure the big one is supposed to output 12V and the smaller 5V. So I need to measure voltages of the primary and secondary parts of both to see if there's something wrong.

After some research, found two datasheets that seem to correspond to my transformers (not sure however):
    https://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datash...06-ERL35R.html
    https://datasheetspdf.com/pdf-file/1204705/FPE/EE19/1

Despite having basic electronics knowledge, my experience is limited. I've only seen transformers with three or two pins each side. According to the datasheets, bigger has 14 pins and smaller has 10 pins. I'm confused. Can someone explain what I'm looking at?

Re: How does these transformers work?

If Transformer has many windings the it will have more pins.
    https://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datash...06-ERL35R.html
So what is so confusing about the amount of pins the transformer has.
Since SMPS power supply runs at high frequency, typical DMM do not have high frequency bandwidth to be able to measure the high frequency AC.
Look up spec sheet of SMPS IC U3 to see how SMPS works.

Ok, so I won't be able to measure without an oscilloscope. Will find a workaround though, thanks

Re: How does these transformers work?

        1) What troubleshooting have you done so far? What is not working, 5V power supply? 12V?
        2) You will need isolation transformer for the power supply if you are going to use the scope if the scope circuit gnd is connected to safety ground?
You do know about electrical safety when making measurement in the HOT DEADLY side of the circuit, correct?
        3) You should study how SMPS works first before trying to troubleshooting the unit.
        4) Did you at least look up the spec sheet of the IC as suggest? You should at least do that.

          1) Bridge rectifier working, after that there's two big electrolytic caps that are OK and then after some bits of circuitry (guessing PWM? now I remember reading the wave in the transformer would be like 60 kHz, so I should've known this) there's the transformers I previously wanted to take a measure.

          2) Well I don't think I'm gonna mess with the transformers directly anymore (for now). I'll search for short circuits in the transistors just before them.
Thanks for worrying, but I'm extremely careful

          3) Agreed. I've had an overview, it is simply hard to assemble everything quickly. Certainly I lack details, which are being picked up as I study my PSU.

          4) Sorry, what IC is that? Name doesn't seem precise to me. Lots of diverging results in Google.

I lately found search engines other than Google to be worse for search results.

Hoping it's just a temporary setback...

Where to find a very small fpc connector 0.3mm between 2 pins ?
                  by corrize
Hello, I search this connector (oxydated).
It's a fpc zif low profile connector. It come from camera sensor, it is very small : 0.3mm between 2 pins.
I ordered 2 from Aliexpress called « 0.3mm pitch » but one was 0.5mm between 2 pins and the other 0.6mm. In fact « 0.3mm pitch » seams to be the pad width and not the distance between 2 pins.
I can't find it. The other websites like mouser dont show the datasheet, and I can't check if it is 0.3mm between 2 pins ?

Do you know how to find this connector please ? What is the exact name for find it ?

So, its actual problem is a missing Vcore and Gnd pins in the CPU socket. My question is that, can it be used safely without these two pins? Only for testing at first, while the other problems will be solved. I would wish repair them later.

The other spots are thermal phaste, because, the under educated installer of the CPU did wipe the contacts of the...

Are there any datasheets available for Elna RJG capacitors?
                  by Ady2017
I have a 2007-era Panasonic VHS combo that is full of of Elna RJG capacitors. I am trying to test the capacitors to diagnose the machine and then select replacement capacitors but I can not find any datasheets for them. I did find a Elna catalogue from 2007-2008 but there is no mention of this capacitor series. Where these specially made for Panasonic and so not made available to the public? Any ideas what to find out what the ESR values should be without the datasheets? They are all between 10V and 50V and 47uF and 1800uF. None are leaking or bulged but I know that they need to be tested to be...

Help me make charger USB C cable with no cc pins!!
                  by marce002
                  Hi all, please

I just want to make a "usb c" charging cable from 5V power supply (have cut cable w/ red black green and white pins connected from factory.... i just want to use 500mah max !

How do I connect this ? if I do not have CC1 /2 physically wired, how to proceed?

NOTE: an identical new (not cut) USB A to USB C cable charges my phone but not the remote control!

here is a picture of the remote, the cable to be used and a picture of what are the factory connected pins

                  thanks in advance!!
