    Hi.

    I'm posting this here in part as a memo to self as well as to describe the procedure I used in case anyone else found it useful. I found a lot of the necessary information to make this work on this forum and I figured I would give something back. If this is not the appropriate place to post this, I don't mind it being deleted but I hope it can help other people.

    I got an admin password locked HP Elitebook 840 G5 recently that I wanted to unlock. I'm a relative newcomer to reprogramming and unlocking firmware. The only previous experience I had was unlocking a BIOS...

    Hi Everyone.

    Probably a dumb question, but I'm gonna ask it anyway, just to be sure.
    I have a HP Elitebook 840 G5 with a BIOS admin password that I wanted to unlock. I've reviewed the instructions on the forum thread and I downloaded the contents of the EC chip (W25Q128JV), several copies to make sure it's not corrupted. I ran the file it through RCUnlocker, and I get the following confirmation screen at the end:

    Hi.

    I'm a chemist IRL, but computers have been my hobby for a long time.
    Recently I've been tinkering with thin clients a lot, got a few that were bios locked and found the forum when looking for solutions to that issue. Made an account because found a lot interesting stuff here. Great place.
