I'll keep to the point. I have a Magavox 42 in LCD model # 42MF531D/37 . One day the screen started flashing then went out. The power light just kept flashing over and over.
So I took it apart and found blown Capxon caps and replaced them with another brand same specs and everything. Nothing else on the power supply looked burned or buldged. So after recapping and turning it back on the audio worked but no picture at all just black but the power switch doesn't flash now at all like when it totally failed.
Been reading this is a common problem with magnavox/phillips dying right after warranty.
What would be the best approach to this? Changing out the whole power supply and hope that solves it instead of getting a technician to charge a fortune just to look at it then sit in the shop for a month.
On a side note a dell monitor powers up sometimes then goes black too then back on sometimes. I tried to take it apart but can't for the life of me figure out how to get to the PSU of it even after prying they back off where it spaps in. It's like everything inside is spot welded together with no screws hardly. That is a 21 in flat screen Dell and would hate to throw it away or the TV if it can be fixed without some shyster charging 500 bucks to do each of them.
Any help would be appreiciated.
