Backlight strip quality, Amazon vs Ebay vs ShopJimmy. Is there really a difference?

    Hello everyone!

Recently I've noticed that some ShopJimmy backlight strips don't have double-sided tape installed upon them when an application calls for it, and I must purchase the tape separately. In a recent chat conversation with a customer service agent I told them if this tape wasn't applied when it was called for I would begin to consider ordering my backlight strips elsewhere. It looks like this time may have come.

I recently got a TCL 65S4 with bad backlights. After looking at the SJ listing here: https://www.shopjimmy.com/tcl-jl-d65...ight-strips-6/ for about $55.00 with my club membership. I chatted with an agent at SJ and he told me these do not have tape installed.

As a result I went to Ebay and found these strips: https://www.ebay.com/itm/40331945178...temCondition=3 for about $32.00 from a member in China but shipped from the US near Atlanta. They also do not have the tape applied, leastways as far as I can tell from the pictures.

I looked upon Amazon but all their strips for this TV come from China and time V money I don't want to wait 30-40 days for them to arrive.

The way I see it, if both strips don't have the tape applied and the handling time is only a few days more with the Ebay strips, a price difference of $23.00 is significant enough for me to buy the Ebay strips....unless their quality is poorer than the ones from SJ.

Yes, SJ has a 180 day return policy, and the Ebay strips only have 30. However if the Ebay strips fail within 180 days I can always do a chargeback on my credit card essentially giving me the same guarantee.

So here are my questions: What is the difference between the SJ and Ebay/Amazon backlight strips, other than the price? Are they really any different quality wise? Does anyone have experience with the cheaper strips, and what is your opinion of their quality? Do any of you recommend backlights from a supplier not mentioned here, and if so, who? For me, consideration of quality always comes before price. I'm not the type to save a buck at the eventual cost of a buyer.

Lastly, I am not dissatisfied with ShopJimmy in any way. They have always been good for their word and provided me with top-quality service since day one. I've probably bought 100 sets of backlights from them and only had problems with one set shortly out of warranty. The way I see it, if I can get the strips for significantly less money and the quality is the same it only makes good business sense to do so.

I'm emailing ShopJimmy a link to this thread for their review. I think it's only fair to do so because they have always lived up to their promises and treated me right.

I had a customer not want me pay me a deposit to order strips from Aliexpress so I gave him the link to Shopjimmy to order himself which were double the price. When he brought the TV in, the strips looked identical to ones I order from Aliexpress. These were the thick lens strips for 55LB series and the supplier I normally order from uses double side tape with a blue backing. You do have to be careful with these style of strips since bad substitutes can produce uneven backlight or bright spots.

Yes the LB strips with the old "queens crown" diffusers can be problematic. I've ordered several from SJ and never had a problem. Care to tell us who your supplier is and average delivery time?

I've ordered leds from both SJ and "that guy in Tucker, Ga", and havent had any problems with either. Funny thing was that the Ga. guy did not have what I needed 1 time so ordered from SJ. Leds came packaged indentically like the other guy and not in the usual triangle box.

LED problem on samsung UE55F6475, 2 strips work. The rest is flashing every second.
              by Kingfreddie
              Ok.. this is the story:
Have an old Samsung LED 3D TV (UE55F6475). First it started to lose light on the lower 40% of the screen now and then. Like for 10-60 mins and then it would work again. Then a bit later it just got stuck in that position. The lower 40% of the screen is dark, and it gets progressively darker the lower u go so it's obviously that LED strips where not working. I also looked for similar errors online and saw an exact copy and on that one it was faulty LED strips.

This is kinda how it looked, just that mine were at the bottom of the screen:

Help findinf LED strips for TDSystems K32DLT1H

              Hi There!
I bought a broken 32" TV today. It has sound but no image. I checked with a flashlight and it was missing backlight
Disassembled down to the led strips and found this TV has been serviced before. Not sure if it was fixed, worked again for some time, and broke again, or maybe last repair wasn't successful

Looks like on previous repair, the center LED strip was replaced with a different model, 7 leds in it instead of 8, but when checking LEDS one by one, leds on the center strip were brighter with same test voltage (multimeter in DIODE mode) so maybe the...

What to do with bad LED strips?
              by eccerr0r
I suspect a lot of you have done a lot of repairs and end up with a lot of bad LED strips...what do you do with them?

Wonder if I should get a pile of LED chips and try to replace the bad units for the heck of it, but I don't really need the strips at the moment because I bought the strips...

Oh... and I think I got my TV working again, though not 100% I don't think, on a white screen I can see a bit of the ghost of the LED strips, must have done something wrong or the LED strips aren't quite the same as the original...

Where do repair shops buy MB replacement batteries?
              by howardc64
Order my parts from mobilesentrix.com and iPhone batteries have been excellent. Recently got 3x bad A1534 (2015) batteries. All would work until ~30-40+% and drop to < 10% instantly. Typical sign of cheap batteries.

Perhaps the less popular A1534 model's aftermarket batteries are more source limited. Just find it surprising quality from mobilesentrix (usually fairly high quality aftermarket parts) have been so poor.

BTW, this isn't the only defective parts I've had from mobilesentrix. Amongst others including iPad Air touch screen and A1989 touch bar (display was...

Grundig 40VLE7131BF led strips doesn't light up
              by h4rdw4re
              Hi guys,
I have one very old TV.
Main problem I have with this tv is that led strips won't light.
I measured voltage levels, and inverter input is 24V.
              other voltages are also ok.
What I found is that removing and connecting again connector CN1 led strips lights for shorts time (but only once). When led strips lights up then light is uniformly spread on whole panel.
First I thought that led strips are dead, but I'm quite sure that problem is not strips related.
I don't know what voltage level is at output of inverter board (samsung SSL400_3E2A) and how...
