    Re: Mechanical Relay Quality

Post #6 says you measured "0.67A up to 1A then back down" and now you're saying 32mA ???

I looked at Heil ICP Tempstar PA5536AKA4/PYPA36GA4 heat pump, from your picture. It looks just like an air conditioner but has a reversing valve to pump heat into the home and there's some optional electric heater package.
Power transformer is 24VAC 40VA. Based on pictures, you can figure out the schematic of the Heil control board 1087562/Honeywell 1084-83-100A, if I'm right about the one in your outdoor unit.
The thermostat inputs are low current going to a PIC MCU. There is no usual 24VAC inductive loads the thermostat relays would be seeing, like contactors etc.
So either your wiring is wrong and you are crowbarring something or this is a massive goosechase due to a cheap crappy Songle relay.

32mA hold, but what was the inrush?

        Re: Mechanical Relay Quality

Digital inputs to HVAC (furnace, A/C) control boards are typically a 820R-1k 3W resistor load. So 24-30mA AC typ. which is what I expect.
Like to "O" Heat/Cool, and "Y" Compressor (after loss of charge/pressure switch).

The control board already has 3-4 relays to deal with the higher power stuff. One large one for the outdoor fan, smaller ones for compressor contactor CC, reversing valve RV and what they call Defrost Heater W. What's funny is the control board relays are the same cube size as OP's: Goodsky RWH-SS-124DMF-U rated 15A.

There can be another (indoor) fan motor contactor we don't know about, and a timer board for the electric heater option as well. I suspect there's extra loads like these lurking somewhere that are responsible for the relay wear.

          Re: Mechanical Relay Quality

One thing that I always check on these boards are for bad soldering joints I have seen quite a few them with issues at terminals joints and at the relays joints as well and you are better off if the soldering joints looks questionable remove the solder and redo it you are better off in the long run

I have fixed a few them before when they either do not go into defrost or do not want to come out of defrost

Does this unit have a time delay for the fan to go off when the temperature hits the set point if does they quite often fail open which means they do not turn on the fan or the fan never turn off in auto fan control mode

i did not use a clamp meter this time, i used a meter that measures the current flowing through the meter with wires

"goosechase due to a cheap crappy Songle relay" is what i have been thinking

the only changes i did on the AC side was moving the wires for the tubes to the relays in the thermostat
            https://www.badcaps.net/forum/newrep...eply&p=1105511
I do not think i have a way to measure that

the fan does have a delay as far as i know, the fan does turn on/off in auto mode

wonder what those relays cost and if i can source them...
as far as i am aware the only fans are in the outdoor unit
the defrost cycle is on a timer cause someone wanted to not pay extra

              Repair Success! Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP
              by valvashon
Yesterday I successfully repaired a Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP that had inadvertently been used as a surge suppressor at our transmitter site. It has already been replaced with an updated one but it's coming home with me now instead of being e-cycled. To be specific, this is the MA model that has the blue backlit display and has been discontinued, although this design may have been used in many UPS units including the smaller Middle Atlantic ones in this series.

Here's what happened: We experienced a brownout/surge at the site, which damaged the UPS and took our broadcasting...

Backlight strip quality, Amazon vs Ebay vs ShopJimmy. Is there really a difference?
              by DXseekerMO
              Hello everyone!

Recently I've noticed that some ShopJimmy backlight strips don't have double-sided tape installed upon them when an application calls for it, and I must purchase the tape separately. In a recent chat conversation with a customer service agent I told them if this tape wasn't applied when it was called for I would begin to consider ordering my backlight strips elsewhere. It looks like this time may have come.

I recently got a TCL 65S4 with bad backlights. After looking at the SJ listing here: https://www.shopjimmy.com/tcl-jl-d65...365as-m-led-ba...

Samsung LN46b530p7f – relay clicks and backlight cycling, sound OK
              by momaka
I got this TV a little over a year ago from a coworker from my previous job. It’s a Samsung 46” TV, model number LN46b530p7f.

              Problem:
              Backlight cycles On and Off.
Basically, when the TV is turned On, there is a relay click heard from the TV PS board. The relay cycles On and Off 4 times in about 2-3 second intervals. Each of those 4 times, the backlights also cycle On and Off with the relay. The screen TFT isn’t cracked/damaged and appears to work - I can see a “no signal” image when the backlights turn On briefly – though the image is a bit dull/dark....

              Burco boiler power problem

Burco BCPLSAFWM5L 5 Litre Wall Mounted Automatic Water Boiler With Filtration UK 240v

Does anybody have any experience with these Burco units at all there is no record of them on the forum lol and a proper service manual would be nice. I invite you all to pesuade me not to botch repair it with a 5v relay, read on.

This unit was rescued from a skip 3 years ago, the only fault it had then was no backight display (plus it wanted a new probe set and top seal) but the screen was never an issue you can still see the screen as is and I just use it to get 5 Litres of very hot...

Help making a switch work the opposite way with a relay
              by SluggerB
I have a very small float switch, I'm using in a very small tank. It only fits in one way. Link https://www.amazon.com/uxcell-Switch.../dp/B07DZ1J2GB

I want the switch to be open when the water is high, and closed when the water is low. Unfortunately it works the opposite. And since this switch is designed to be underwater, it's all sealed up, there is no taking it apart or hacking it up.

It will be driving a water pump, basic idea, when the water is low, switch closes, which turns on water pump, when enough water is in the tank, float switch floats,...
