I hate thieves - Requesting help building car alarm

So my gf's car along with another one in the same parking lot were broken into last night. They mangled her dash removing the radio.

It's gotten my blood boiling and I know most thieves can disarm modern alarm systems these days. I was thinking of making something that'd cause panic and make them bail before being able to steal anything.

One of my ideas is installing a set of super bright lights tucked behind the top part of the backseat where it meets the back window panel. Rig it to the some light switch that activates when the door is open and have the lights strobe incredibly fast and bright. Maybe even activate an annoying sounding horn. It could be turned on and off in the trunk and easily switched on when need be.

Any ideas on circuits and such to accomplish this? Thinking using separate power source as well

    forget that.
start with a $75 chinese 2way pager alarm - because ultimatly only *you* give a shit.

then put the loudest sounder you can lay your hands on under the dash to make it painfull to get in the car.

finally, if you can get any electrically fired smoke or teargass cartridges that wont stain or soak into the upholstery - consider that too.

I like that. What's the $75 2way pager you mention?

I've made one before but it was for pranking my truck, not actual security.

only if you test one first in an enclosed area you dont give a fuck about.
you dont want it to stain or leave residue behind - that would trash the car interior.
and you need to see if it gets hot - some gas generators get hot enough to start a fire.

I wonder if strobe lights would be sufficient to scare off thieves, AKA fake Camera
Or perhaps a real camera that could take photos of the intruder...

Re: I hate thieves - Requesting help building car alarm

I imagine a super fast bright strobing light would cause panic for someone like a thief expecting a nice quiet dark area to "work" in.

It may cause them to think pictures are being taken or just startle them enough to want to exit the situation. Let's not forget the "slow motion" effect strobe lights create. Try stealing a radio now lol

                    Something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/291804493561

Connected to the door ajar switch so once open it closes the circuit and sets them off. I'd want to add a timer circuit that latches so if the door is closed they continue flashing for a set amount of time

you cant scare off theives - they dont scare.
they expect an alarm to go off and work on the principle of speed - rip out your stuff & run as fast as possible.
your aim is to disorientate them so they cant work in the car.

or if your russian, you can kill them by fitting stun-guns into the headrests - something i saw on another forum!!!

Lol. They expect an alarm with noise and outside flashing lights but not inside the vehicle. I'm curious how they'd react to that

lights wouldnt effect them, they could probably strip the parts out wih a blindfold on - a siren causes pain and a headache though.

besides, how many would you fit? if it's just one or 2 they could put a hand over it.

Sounds like kids or crackheads to me. Pros don't mangle the dash.
Piss them off and they are likely to vandalise the car.
Get a face off stereo, so there is nothing to steal or build a stealth stereo.

or replace the lighter socket with a bit of iron gas pipe with a 12guage cartridge in it and a solenoid on the back!!!

anyway, pro's dont take stereo's - they take the whole car.
they know that for example, the ECU is worth more than the radio

kids screwdriver the stereo out of the dash and then rip out or cut the loom.

Connect a pager to an electronically fired blasting cap and stick that in some C4.
Then just make sure you car insurance covers explosions

Ha! That gives me an idea of having some capacitors hooked up backwards and once the door open power is applied causing them to explode. Add some flashing lights, I think anyone would peace out of that situation lol

if they are smart, they could go rent a car to strip,
otherwise they could sell them to a pro who could get credit with them.

hey - maybe they could use them in a gunshop to get that inline check done!!!

This house has a Honeywell Accenta G3 alarm system. If the main unit loses power for any reason, the external siren sounds - even if the alarm is not even armed! Entering the code to disarm it is not an option as the keypads are completely dead when the power is out.

I presume this means the backup battery inside the box has failed, but I can't get in there and replace it without also setting off a tamper alarm! Is there any way to disable the tamper alarm so that electrical work can be carried out with the power off? Or a way to replace the backup battery without setting off the...

Apologies if this is in the wrong section but being a car alarm siren that makes noise i thought it be best to put it in the audio section.
Had weird alarm issues where siren made a strange noise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjsqndhionU
took siren out of the car and checked it out and pics attached seem to be the source of the issue.
shockingly the alarm still makes its normal sound if i trigger it manually so speaker seems to be intact.

I have got an old Gardtec GT595 alarm which has got a faulty keypad with a failed LCD screen. This was apparently a very common problem with these and many people have had to replace the whole alarm because of this problem. Somebody claims to be able to repair the keypads by replacing the screen and I have tried it myself by replacing the LCD with a commonly available HD44780 1602 16x2 Serial LCD screen but it is not working. I am sure it is a problem with a driver or simular which is not allowing the screen to talk to the rest of the electronics. Does anyone know what this original screen was...

Good day to all. The bite alarm drains 9-volt Krona batteries. Current consumption when switched on is about 50 mA. I wiped the board from oxides, I will attach a photo (on the board there is a j3y transistor and a 7533 stabilizer, the microcircuit is erased = (the 3.3-volt stabilizer heats up weakly. I replaced it, nothing changed. I unsoldered the microcircuit, the consumption disappeared. The resistance on the pins of the unsoldered microcircuit from the point clockwise is more than 2 megaohms, the 11th leg is presumably ground. I warmed up the microcircuit, the consumption does not change....

I have a seemingly rare 486 motherboard which shows no signs of life.

The Motherboard is marked with the labels B887 / 8 / 9 AI, which seems to be a Mecer branded board.

With an AT power supply hooked up, the power supply turns on but the board does not post, there is no beep and there is nothing displayed on the post analyser card, whether it's plugged into a PCI slot or an ISA slot.

I found a thread on Vogons of someone else who had the same board in working condition.

What I've tried so far: (In each case, the symptoms remain unchanged as...
