HVAC Blower Motor Electrics Wires Colors

Hi, I had unassembly a portable LG A/C from the garbage and want to reuse the blower to use it for succing the air from my desk.

I don't know what is the color wiring codes. I would like to use it directly on 110volt with a varial ceiling controller switch (connect into the maximum blower power, and control it).

    I will need help.

    The blower fan has
2X Black wires (connected previously on a relay) (i keeped the relay)
    1X Red wire
    1X Yellow wire
    1X Blue wire
    1X green ground wire

I don't know how to connect it. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Who make the motor ?
Did this motor have a run cap ?
What voltage did this ac unit run ?
Is there a label on this motor at all ?

No wiring diagram inside the unit?
      Model number of the LG?
      Any label on the blower?

bet what you called a relay is a cap.

BTW, that blower is more than likely to be multiple speeds.

I unassembly a capacitor, i think it's for the compressor. I took a picture of the capacitor (see attachement).
Oups.... the 2 black wire was attached into the gray capacitor. I was thinking is a relay, no is a capacitor!

            115V - 60hz 1.2A
            12.5 uF/250V
Yes see attachement (i found it under the motor assy)

Yes i see it but don't know how to wire with the capacitor, and the relay and the switch i want to buy.

Exactly, 3 speeds i think. I want to use 1 speed with a ceiling fan controller to control the variation (if possible).

I want to use it in my Honton HT-R390 reflow/rework station to sucks the air outside. See my attachement of my desk i've build last weekend.

Not sure if the relay is a relay or capacitor!

Any help is appreciated. Im happy to see your answers and your time to answer my question!

The A/C i found is a LG LP1111WXR. Bad compressor, leak, i've keep all the parts except the compressor.

Thanks everyone! Your help is really appreciated!

P.S. sorry, my stand for the rework station is not finish. I will add sides closed and need to install a variable switch.

IF someone can help me by understood all the wires goes where, etc.

Did i can use the high power with a variable ceilling fan switch?

I want to use this to control it:
              https://www.homedepot.ca/fr/home/p.r...000158026.html

              Is it possible?

Re: HVAC Blower Motor Electrics Wires Colors

                OK

The two black wires are your cap leads
Blue wire is your hot lead
The yellow wire is one speed
The red wire is one speed

                This is very important ----->
Only hook one of these at a time either the yellow wire or the red wire BUT NOT both at the same time if you do that you will fry the motor this is your other hot lead

I do not think that you can use that speed control --->

Here is a way you can find out hook your motor up the way I was telling you and if you have an amp probe measure them amp using red wire then do the same thing using the yellow wire which ever wire get you close to 1.2 amps use this wire on the speed controller and at full speed it should not read any higher than the 1.2 or so reading you got with out the speed controller

If it work OK then you have one more thing to check that is at the lowest speed that you are going to use -----> the amp reading should not be more than 1.2 or so
In fact it should be a lot less after running the motor for 15 minutes the tempature of the motor should NEVER get so HOT that when you put your hand on the motor and if you can not keep it there because it so HOT you CAN NOT use any speed controller on this motor

                I hope this helps

It looks to be only 2-speed (HI and LO), as you can see, the motor wiring only show 2-position switch to select the speed.

I've use the high speed, if too much powerful, i will use low speed. Thanks.

                      Hi Sam Sam Sam,

Home Depot recommend me the current ceilling fan controller that will supposely worked with blower can with capacitor.

COOPER FAN SPEED CONTROL RFS5 - 5A FULLY VARIABLE

"For use with permanently installed split capacitor or shaded pole motors used in ceiling fans. To avoid overheating and possible damage to other equipment, do not use to control receptacles, fluorescent lights, transformer-supplied appliances, etc."

Before installing it, normally i just used the blower fan for about 10-12 minutes maximum (for reflow, for reballing).

                      What did you think?

                      Thanks,

Update: Well, i don't like the noise of the motor with the speed controller. Don't take change on it. Will just use it with low speed with a ON/OFF switch. Thanks for help.

This motor dose not like this type of speed controller

Sam is giving you the correct information. Simple fan or blower motors are induction motors with (in your case) one or more fixed speeds. Speed control on these motors would use a hi-lo switch rather than a triac phase angle control. Examples of motors that are built for continuously variable speed control have commutators (AC and DC motors) or the modern equivalent electronic commutation on the newer HVAC equipment.
                            Is it plugged in?

First do you have two capacitors going to this motor? I saw the one 12UF cap. You also showed a picture with a metal can attached to the side of the motor? So it looks like you might have a Run capacitor and a Start capacitor. The metal strap I believe is hiding the caps value so you would have to take out the screw holding the strap around the metal can. This information should help you out. http://www.electrical-knowhow.com/20...s-part_17.html

I had 3 capacitors with this air conditioner.

                                1 metallic is for the air compressor;
                                1 gray lower blower
                                1 gray labeled upper blower.

Capacitor fit with label of the motor uF value.

I don'T find any dual low/high home switch at Home Depot. I've look into 3 stores and they don't have that.

So we are only interested in the HVAC Blower Motor caps not the compressor right? So with one cap to each blower motor I would think that to be a start Cap. If you have a AC clamp-on meter you could check that to see if there is any current running through the cap when the motor is running by measuring the magnetic field to the wire on the far side of the cap. I do not know how fast the start circuit turns the motor. It may be possible to use this circuit to turn the motor slower. I am not sure what type of stresses it would put on the circuit however. The other possibility might be to put a large variable cap in series with the motor. Lastly you might try a purely resistive rheostat in series with the motor. A SCR only turns on during a portion of the ac wave perhaps the motor need a constant source of current to operated correctly?

I don'T find any dual low/high home switch at Home Depot. I've look into 3 stores and they don't have that.

Turn it to left would be one speed
                                    middle would be OFF
Turn to the right would be the other speed

The right cap for this motor is a 12.5uf@250 volts

                                      For this type of motor

                                      None of this would work

The motor would ether not run or over heat

                                        Hi,

i am asking for some Help.
I have one of these Nescafe Aeroccino (Milk Frother) things with a bad motor.
The Motor didn“t start anymore and internet is full of users just swapping the motor for a Mabuchi RF-500TB-12560.
So i got a few of these from Banggood.

I swapped the motor and now i have a new fault condition.

In a working Frother you would press the start button, it will light red and work for a few minutes.
If you press longer it will light blue and just mixup the milk.

With the new Motor it just starts...

hi there,im having a look at repairing a wood lathe for my dad,(charnwood w821)the problem is when turning up the variable speed control, the motor starts to stop and start by itself,if i continue to turn up the speed it will trip the mcb in the consumer unit, there is also a slight smell of burning from the speed controll box.,Another strange symptom is the lathe can be unplugged from the mains after switching it off and the motor will spin a couple of times by itself,so far ive put a new speed controll potentiometer on and new motor brushes, ive also tested the motor windings and everything looks...

                                        Hi all forum members,
Found this unknown motor discarded in a junk yard and took home for learning experience. By the look of it, I suspect it is taken out from a type of air blower probably running on ac power. I used digital multimeter on ohm/resistance scale and it doesn't read anything on those 2 black wires. So, this motor is not shorted and should be good to run.

Correct me if i am wrong on the initial test.
Can anyone kindly advice on how to test run this motor based on visible external two black wires. Fyi, i don't see any marking on the motor body nor smell anything...

                                        (TL;DR skip the first paragraph)
I encountered my first dead motor run capacitor at a customer this week.
For some fields I guess it is a very common occurrence but the usual way for industrial machines here is to use 3-phase motors.
(Unless a servo motor makes more sense that is).
But for some reason this 3-phase machine uses a 1-phase motor for its liquid coolant pump.
The pump would run but sometimes trip the 10A breaker.
I monitored it starting and stopping for over an hour until it finally stopped in a specific spot between its windings:
                                        Then it could...

So I picked up this little truck, and the blower motor does not work correctly. There are 4 settings, Low, Med-Low,Med-High, and Max. The issue is Low, Med-Low, and Med-High ALL act like Low. Max works like Max.

So research tells me it is the resistor block for the blower motor. So I change that. Still works the exact same. More research tells me the plug going into the Resistor block often gets corroded and faulty, so I change that. Still works the exact same. More research says sometime the switch in the cab goes faulty. I replace that. STILL WORKS THE SAME.
