Why not have Vizio repair your tv for $334.50 and see if they will sell an extended warranty on the repaired set?Leave a comment:

Re: Vizio TV broke down after 20 months... thought of shairng my experience...
I bought a Vizio 55" 3D TV worth approximately $1,100. I did not get extended warranty because I was confident with Vizio's reliability. I do not understand why "extended warranty" should be at the expense of the customer. A good appliance should last more than 6 years like our Sharp 45".Leave a comment:

. Doesn't matter if the brand is American or not. Most electronics are made in China (with the lowest possible cost, usually) and then re-branded by various companies. So the next time you buy, just look at who offers the best price-to-warranty ratio, and go with them. TVs are junk these days. And on purpose - it keeps the world economy going "well".
That said, we may be able to help you if you post what exactly is the problem of your TV.Last edited by momaka; 10-07-2015, 06:02 PM.Leave a comment:

Yes if you're a little handy it is probably fixable for a lot less than they quoted excluding panel failure.Leave a comment:

Did they give you a detailed description of what is wrong. You might be able to fix it yourself.Leave a comment:

You got screwed, no doubt. Your saying it lasted a year and eight months? That's what you get when robots do the work. 20 years ago extended warranties were a scam. Now you need them. I even got one for a used car. 3 year bumper to bumper.Leave a comment:

Vizio TV broke down after 20 months... thought of shairng my experience...
I bought a Vizio 55" 3D TV worth approximately $1,100. I did not get extended warranty because I was confident with Vizio's reliability. I do not understand why "extended warranty" should be at the expense of the customer. A good appliance should last more than 6 years like our Sharp 45". I am a low income earner but I thought buying an American brand is a good investment and my little way of help to USA. However, the TV broke 20 months after or a mere 8 months after the 12-year manufacturer warranty. I'm not even done paying it under Walmart's 24-month interest free installment. ITI, which is Vizio's repair center arm, quoted $334.50 for parts and repair. I politely asked for assistance from Vizio considering that it was only 8 months out of the warranty. Vizio's "assistance" was offering a newer TV, an E55-C1 worth $599.99 which does not have the 3D feature that we were enjoying, with a "$50" discount amounting to $549.99 +tax and take our old TV. I am hesitant accepting this "assistance" because it does not sound like "assistance" at all. I asked if Vizio could instead help with the repair cost but I received a negative response.
I feel like I was screwed over.

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by mrtekHi.
picked up another TV. This time is a Vizio M65-C1. TV does not turn on. I had repaired another 60 inch vizio , Bad main board.
When power button is pressed, the Power led indicator on the bottom right, turns for a few seconds and then it fades away. No backlight or Vizio logo on screen. Removed back cover and repeated test.
This is the TV This TV is a little different from the Samsung I have worked on. Power supply is on the Left side, Main Bd is on the right side, T-CON , not in the picture is on the bottom. I am assuming that the boards in the middle are the LED... -
by giddyupngoHello, I would appreciate your expertise on this. I have about 5 years experience with copier repair, so I have done a lot of board and component replacement. This is the first LCD TV I tried to repair, and it really humbled me. The issue was that on power on the TV power light would go on and then fade out seconds later, and there was no image at all, screen stayed black.
I thought this meant there was a power board problem, not realizing that the power light fading out was by design, probably so the light would not distract the TV watcher. This is not my TV, so I wasn't familiar... -
by howardc64Failure Symptom
No picture, just red vertical stripes. Google search shows quite common problem for these recent Vizio M series although red vertical stripe pattern may differ. Some call it "Netflix" boot screen haha.
Where is the short?
Panel has 4x buffer boards. Quickly found the 1/4 panel buffer board with the problem by selectively disconnecting buffer board flex cables.
Having recently fixed another Vizio with similar symptoms that was a shorted ESD diode array ( link ) Probed the ESD diode array but... -

Does anybody have any experience with these Burco units at all there is no record of them on the forum lol and a proper service manual would be nice. I invite you all to pesuade me not to botch repair it with a 5v relay, read on.
This unit was rescued from a skip 3 years ago, the only fault it had then was no backight display (plus it wanted a new probe set and top seal) but the screen was never an issue you can still see the screen as is and I just use it to get 5 Litres of very hot... - Loading...
