They don't break much,, u know...

I don't remember how to make the numbers on them mean anything so I can look up replacements or specs...

Re: How to ID transformers ????????

I really didn't have a specific one in mind.
Need to get a feel for which numbers matter.

What I was trying to do that caused me to realize I don't know how to ID transformers anymore was draw out scats for for some of my PSUs and find the limiting components.

Here are some I've looked at.

      ----------------------------------
      E216944 H-P CWT 0506
      09B390028-0N
      Viking B-2 Class 130(B)
      ----------------------------------

      ----------------------------------
      E216944 H-P CWT 0551
      09L190042-0N
      Viking B-2 Class 130(B)
      ----------------------------------

      ----------------------------------
      EI-33ASG
      ----------------------------------

      ----------------------------------
      EE-19N
      ----------------------------------

      ----------------------------------
      EE-16(TOP)
      ----------------------------------

      ----------------------------------
      EI-28 YE
      ----------------------------------

      ----------------------------------
      EE-19 YE
      ----------------------------------

      ----------------------------------
      EE-16-1
      YE 0447
      ----------------------------------

First two are out of a beefy PSU and the rest are out of two wimpy ones.

Re: How to ID transformers ????????

Those EE and EI numbers are the core number (there are standard cores out there), which is used for this transformer. This is one limiting aspect, how much energy could be transported. The custom made ones are probably harder to id, as they could be specified for anything.

          Thanks people.
I did figure out the EE and EI is the core shape and that the next # is the core width in mm.
... and that there's not much else you can get out of the numbers on a transformer.

          SUX.
It's not like there's a lack of ROOM for specs on a transformer.

they are custom wound and not a generic off the shelf item.
