bug of the month: write caching setting for the hard drive in device manager
      by ChaosLegionnaire
i recently bought a new wd re4 2tb with 2014 datecodes. when i got around to testing it tho in victoria hd tester, the write speed was very slow at 14 mb/s with a 256 sector transfer size. when i increased the transfer size to 1024 sectors, the write speed increased slightly to 44 mb/s. read speeds and sector verify speeds were fine and at normal speeds.

so i just ass-u-med the drive's poor performance was due to it being an advanced format drive and i was using it on winxp. when i tried cloning my system disk to this wd re4 2tb drive and writing to it in linux, the write speed...

      UART (serial ?) splitter ?
      by Dannyx
Good day folks. I got a project on hand and would like some thoughts on whether it's possible to achieve, albeit impractical. You know me - I like to over-complicate stuff

The setup: I got a Paradox EVO192 alarm panel, a serial-to-ethernet adapter and an official PCS250 GSM communicator.

The task (TL/DR): connecting both the ethernet adapter AND the communicator to the single serial port of the Paradox panel. Connecting their TX/RX lines in parallel the data would get all messed up. At the very most, I THINK I could parallel the RX pins of the ethernet adapter...

      by mshone
Sorry if topic if misplaced. Have lenovo thinkpad P1 gen2 with Xeon E-2276M CPU and NVIDIA® Quadro® T1000. It is a new board replaced. Old board was P1 G1 model with i7 and it is defective. I ordered a new one with xeon, but is gen 2. Laptop case is suitable for this motherboard, with some little difference (GPU fan and subcard).Ok, ordered and replaced and GPU fan and subcard and now laptop is working fine, but serial number and UUID is unknown. Ok, i readed several topics here and found Thinkpad maintenance disk, but.....which values to type? How to find data base with those values? serial...

      X270 - Bios flashing help
      by Timeeez
      Hello everyone,

I am still a beginner and want to learn more about flashing bios. First of all, thank you very much for the tutorials made on this forum it helps a lot.

Lets get straight to the point. When I try to flash the bios of my Lenovo X270 it restarts several times and always returns to the bios that was there at the beginning. When I get the bios from someone on the forum and write it to the bios chip, I always have the same serial numbers. I have the feeling that the pc is reflashing itself. Where could this come from? How to avoid this problem?
